the week between this episode and the next in the UK caused a huge media storm of "Who is the next Doctor???" it was in the papers, the news, even bookies and betting shops had bets on who the next Doctor would be. The casting of a new actor in the role is something of an event over here. was a very well kept secret and that next episode couldn't come soon enough

So to clear up all things Dalek quickly: -The original Dalek from back in 1x6 was just some random soldier Dalek, notable only cause he was the only surviving Dalek in that particular time period -Dalek Caan is indeed the one from the Cult of Skaro in seasons 2 and 3 -Davros is a classic series villain. Debuted while Sarah Jane was companion, hence her recognizing him. He's been referenced once, kinda, in this series before- back in the first Dalek episode when Eccleston's Doctor is explaining their species to everyone else: "They were created by a genius, by a man who was king of his own little world." You know shit's real when the Doctor thinks someone's a genius

I had to wait until this came out on dvd (this season cost $100 back then!). Love the episode. Noticed the 500 yard sprint and began to suspect Rose was going to get killed. Then BAM, doctor gets shot and my reaction was “ohhhhhhhhhh that’s soooooo unfair”. I can’t comment about the regeneration yet though, since it hasn’t finished.

I was 8 when this aired and after 10 more years of who its still one of my all time favourite episodes

I remember watching this years ago when it first aired on the TV! And the build up to the daleks...I, and probs half the nation was likely quaking at their return considering it had been awhile for us! It’s mad how everything comes together like this and I’ve been waiting for you to watch this one ever since you started Who! I’m glad you enjoyed this first part! Best two parter in the entire show in my opinion. Enjoy the most ambitious crossover event. :D

This episode didn't have a next time trailer and even the trailers of episode 13 during that long week didn't feature The Doctor at all
