UNEDITED EXCLUSIVE: Doctor Who Season 5 Episode 1 REACTION!

That’s fair. I think the same. Starting with season 7, I usually only like the premiere, finale, and maybe 1 or 2 episodes in the middle. Season 10 is roughest as I only liked the finale and was bored with the rest.

If for nothing else (and there’s a lot I love in this episode) I’m happy this season hits the ground running and Matt Smith isn’t asleep for most of it

I am personally of the opinion that this season is either tied with or just barely beneath Season 4 for the best in the series. (Don't take that as a knock on the seasons that follow necessarily, these two are just imo the most cohesive full products as seasons and story arcs- there's plenty to look forward to for everything after too).

This is the first time I've rewatched since it first aired and I like it a lot more. I think young me was still pretty salty that Tennant regenerated (and the style changed a lot), plus Smith is similar enough that it sort of reminds you that he isn't quite the same. Some great eps to come though!

This episode doesn't really do anything for me to be honest, but I think Smith did a great job of selling his character. I just wasn't bought in yet.

This is a good little clip that would help new comers understand a bit more if they started watching DW from S5. I would suggest Failwhale watch it before 5x2 if he can.

Usually big changes like this happen with a new show runner as they make there new stamp on things. I enjoyed this episode so much more trying to feel what you feel having watched it for the first time and it actually made me love it so much more.

I remember when Matt Smith was first announced. After how great David Tennant was I was like UGH. Tennant was MY Doctor and no one could replace him. The general vibe towards Matt Smith from the Who community was so negative and I went into this episode with such low expectations (not even sure I was going to continue with the show) and came out blown away. Matt was great from day one and just gets better and better!! I love this season!

What a Christmas present! My favorite episode of all episodes if I was forced against my wishes to pick a favorite. There is so much to love about The Eleventh Hour. AMY: “I started to think that maybe you were just like a madman with a box.” DOCTOR: “Amy Pond, there's something you'd better understand about me, because it's important, and one day your life may depend on it. I am definitely a madman with a box. Ha-ha! Yeah, goodbye Leadworth, hello everything!!”

Great introduction to my favorite Doctor and Companion! I love this season. I do remember thinking, "who is this Frankenstien looking guy and is he really the doctor?", but this episode killed it and by maybe episode five he was already my favorite. This season is actually the point where I started watching as a kid as it was currently airing at the time, so I'm really fond of s5 overall but I do think it has some really genuinely good episodes so I hope you enjoy the rest of season :)

I loved tennant and when he left the show I refused to watch anything with Matt Smith’s Doctor...but then I saw this episode and then that turned into this season and before I knew it I was a major fan of Matt Smith! He’s really a great amazing doctor with some of the best moments of Who In it’s catalogues..just go along with the ride with the madman in his box and Amy Pond along for the ride..#whovian #whalearmy

Every departure for a doctor is difficult, because whenever you fall in love with them, you never want them to hand over the role. I remember being about 10 in the school playground and everyone was hating 11 before this ep was aired, just because he wasn't 10 who everyone adored. But times changed 😉

Personally I just don't get along with this season, maybe because 11 doesn't fit the shoes for me just yet, but i do eventually warm to him, and he is an amazing doctor.

Well I guess I am in fact not sleeping lol. I loved this episode. I was just devastated when Tennant regenerated, but I enjoyed Matt Smith and really loved his debut. By the time 5x01 and 5x02 were over, I was hooked. Eleven soon became my Doctor.
