Plus Peter Parker had Tenth Doctor's line when he got dusted.

2019-03-27 22:47:41 +0000 UTCThe mention of Peter Parker's death in Infinity War when Rory was going was amusing - I didn't think about it until seeing this but, of course, Gillan was there for both!
2019-01-18 14:03:13 +0000 UTCAmy's Choice, I love this episode. To be fair I love a lot of Series 5, it's my favourite season, thanks to episodes like this and the wonderful group of characters - Doctor 11, Amy and Rory (and not forgetting River earlier on in that Angel two parter). This episode has a lot of humour but doesn't skimp on the perils. Lots of great character moments and a memorable villain, with all of the actors bringing their A game to this one. A wonderful central idea that keeps you guessing and second guessing yourself. It's quirky and fun but has real emotional punch. It has it all.
2019-01-18 13:58:47 +0000 UTCI liked this much more on rewatch, noticing that trend in this season. The main problem with this ep is that you never really think the Leadworth version is going to be the real one. I think they should have worked a fake-out in somehow. Still it's a pretty strong one. Really good direction/editing as you mentioned.
2019-01-17 00:52:21 +0000 UTCI felt like this was an average episode when I first watched it in 2010 a few viewings later I still felt that but having someone else’s perspective of it does sort of change my mind about the episode hmmm
2019-01-17 00:38:25 +0000 UTCThe Doctor is basically forcing himself to wake up every time he falls asleep after the half-way mark; Time Lords have 100% conscious control over their bodies, after all, when they override controls from their subconsciousness.

2019-01-16 08:13:54 +0000 UTCThis is one of my all-time favorite episodes. Great seeing it again from your viewpoint.
2019-01-16 05:51:34 +0000 UTCIf you mean The Valeyard, the doctor got all the information from... The Master, so a questionable and unreliable source. The valeyard is described as cunning, verbal, manipulative, egotistical, a schemer, and wears disguises. Does that sound like the doctor? No, that’s the master. Also, why would the doctor’s future self be interested in or be able to put himself on trial and be the prosecutor for that trial, as well as tamper with the evidence? Again, all that is something the master would do because he found it funny. The only thing missing is the “reveal”
2019-01-16 04:57:57 +0000 UTCToby Jones, been in a lot of things... and I didn’t know this until just now, but he voiced Dobby in Harry Potter. Huh. Is there an episode about nightmares? Yes, but not this season. It’s unlikely this episode was influenced by Inception. The episode aired in May, the movie was released in July.
2019-01-16 04:35:15 +0000 UTCThe evil side of the Doctor has actually appeared in the past, sorta... or rather, the future. In the classic series one of the villains in the last few seasons is the evil side of his future self, given physical form (based on the info we're given, said darkness only was able to manifest into a physical being at some point way in the future, further ahead than even this episode). There's a case to be made that the Dream Lord here is a younger and non-material version of the same character. There's also a case to be made that after all the time-altering shenanigans of the show that villain will no longer exist in the current timeline, but no way to know for sure, at least not until he actually shows up again.
