Tbh you kind of slow on the uptake with ozwin and Clara being the same person, just saying

2019-11-07 02:24:54 +0000 UTCI didn't mind this Clara. Hated that she and The Doctor kissed. I'm a Doctor/River shipper all the way. I also think actual Clara lasts way too long as a companion.
2019-10-23 15:50:14 +0000 UTCDid you notice who played the Voice of The Great Intelligence? Gandalf and Magneto himself, Sir Ian McKellen!

2019-05-23 20:15:00 +0000 UTCThe one explaining why Strax isn’t dead is so completely uninteresting and unimportant. “He passed out” did not need time devoted to it
2019-05-23 03:11:59 +0000 UTCLoved this episode. I'm sure it's been mentioned but The Great Intelligence is from two Second Doctor stories and the London Underground is a reference to the second of the stories, The Web Of Fear. Also Richard E Grant has played The Doctor twice. There was an animated adventure called The Scream of The Shalka not too long before RTD brought the series back. The first time was a parody episode based on the classic series called The Curse Of The Fatal Death in which he briefly plays The Doctor. It was actually written by Steven Moffat.

2019-05-22 21:21:13 +0000 UTCI think he knows that- I took it to be "oh cool Sontarans, that reminds me, why no Slitheen?"

2019-05-22 18:52:29 +0000 UTCI think you missed a couple minisodes- pretty sure there's one explaining Strax's survival and 100% sure there's one where Vastra and Strax are trying to get the Doctor to go on adventures again.

2019-05-22 18:50:50 +0000 UTCWhenever a companion is about to leave or the Doctor is about to regenerate, most of the fans usually know ahead of time. Moffat was usually very good at making something a surprise out of it despite the media coverage that tries to spoil things. It was well known the Ponds were leaving on ep 5 and that Clara would start on the Christmas special so it was confusing and shocking to see Jenna Coleman in ep 1 this season. Speaking of the Ponds, another way Moffat used our prior knowledge against us was the scene where Amy and Rory jump off the building. Since I knew it was their last episode I was convinced that would be how they died. But of course what actually happened to them broke my heart even more. P.S. Strax is a Sontaran, not a Slitheen.

2019-05-22 18:03:37 +0000 UTCIt was a huge surprise to see Jenna Coleman in the premiere. That was a well kept secret, a rarity with this show. At the time I thought she was one-off character because they were testing compatibility before committing to become a companion, then wham, ties into this episode. I didn’t like the new Tardis design at first, I liked the steampunky one introduced in season 5. But apparently it was too difficult filming in there with all the reflections on the surfaces. I’ve grown to like it though.
2019-05-22 16:00:13 +0000 UTCI loved your reaction. This was my favourite Christmas special up to this point, and the first time it occurred to me that they could be good. They had announced that Jenna Coleman was going to be appearing in the Christmas episode around the same time they announced Karen Gillan was leaving, so the big surprise was actually seeing her in the season premiere. I thought they had pulled one over on the fans, but then she did show up in the Christmas episode. You're right about the numbering - this is the Christmas episode, so episode 6 is next. I can't wait to see you react to that.

2019-05-22 13:01:46 +0000 UTC“Run, you clever boy!” said Clara (both of them). Has the recurrence of the word “run” in Dr. Who ever come up? It was the Ninth Doctor’s first word to Rose. Before River Song died, she told Ten, “You watch us run” and as a data-ghost she said, “When you run with the Doctor, it feels like it will never end. But however hard you try, you can't run forever.” When Ten met the girl from the Gamma Forest, he said, “We ran, you and me. Didn't we run, Lorna?” And so on. There are more examples throughout the “run” of new Who than I can remember, but it seems to me that in these contexts the word is synonymous with “live!” or “live adventurously!” It lends a double meaning to “run for your life!” because as often as the Doctor tells his companions to run from danger, he and they run toward it. Now Clara is telling a despondent Doctor to get off his ass and back into life. “Run, you clever boy! Run!”

2019-05-22 12:53:35 +0000 UTCIts like all of a sudden its SIKE to viewers when it comes to episode 1. I love how sneaky episode 1 of season 7 is. Remember when you were like "Well I liked the episode but it didn't seem like a season opener and it just felt like any other episode that could have fit into any slot. It didn't seem to start any arcs really" and then its like BAM, secret arc established under everyones noses. And then its like "Ahhh so this is why episode 1 was the Dalek stuff."

2019-05-22 12:48:37 +0000 UTCHands down the best Christmas special and even better on the rewatch. Love the dynamic between 11 and Clara.

2019-05-22 12:34:48 +0000 UTCThe TARDIS interior was a necessary change, because the production moved to a larger studio. I love that the opening titles now have the Doctor's face in them again - gives it a retro classic vibe.

2019-05-22 11:23:10 +0000 UTCMy favorite Christmas special. Great plot, great dynamic between the Doctor and Clara, great music, a new TARDIS interior, and the One Word Test is one of my favorite scenes in Doctor Who. Great reaction as always!

2019-05-22 10:59:59 +0000 UTCThe Great Intelligence is an Old Who villain, which is why the Doctor is saying "sounds familiar". This is basically a pre-sequel, from a certain point of view (chronologically, as the Old Who story happens in the 60's (hence the nod at the London Underground tunnel network in 1960's map)
