I joined in December for the unedited versions of a lot of your reactions, but I never went back to watch the uploads before that. So I'm watching the Buffy reactions from the beginning (I've seen the whole series about 9-10 times, but it never gets old for me), and I just finished 1x1- I'm sure others have mentioned this since, but hearing you bring up "big bad" during this ep reminds me of just how influential this show is. Even just the term "big bad" came from Buffy. I'm loving your journey so far (in early S4 now) and I'm so glad you started these reactions. :)

2020-01-21 17:04:23 +0000 UTCVery excited to see you react to this. I don't have any idea how I felt about this episode the first time around, because that was a different lifetime for me. Later seasons are still in my memory, but the first ones just somehow hooked me fast. Maybe it was zeitgeist of the time, but even though I was a little old for it, I still liked it. And when I finally got around to the spin-off (is naming it a spoiler?) I fell in love with that too. I know Whedon has his ups and downs like everyone, but he certainly entertained us.

Everything you're thinking/feeling about the characters and the production is pretty spot on to how most fans feel at this point! The first season has some spotty episodes, but it's best contribution is just establishing the characters and the basic rules of the world.
