Jon Stewart — Why Hypocrisy Doesn't Matter Anymore [Ad-Free]

Jon Stewart returned to The Daily Show to cover the 2024 election, so I thought I'd watch his entire election coverage and try to see what I could learn about the failure of the Democratic Party

Nailed the dismount! I have to admit I nearly checked-out during all those clips of Bill OReilly et al, but you wrapped it all up with a bow - well done! One minor quibble, only b/c it's one of my personal buggaboos: I get why you showed that flash of "What's the Matter with Kansas" around 1:09 - the Dems really latched on to that idea that "Duh stoopid conservatives are voting against their own interests." But that was only half of the book's thesis -- the Dems also not-surprisingly never mention the other half, which is that the reason conservatives do that is because they recognize that the Dems, and specifically the Clinton Dems, completely sold them down the river, and if neither party is going to change their economic situation, what else is there to vote on than the "culture war" issues? We still see that of course -- Chump won over working class voters, especially in America's sacrifice zones, because he at least acknowledges that they are suffering (even if his "fixes" are going to cause even more damage), while all they got from the Dems was "What are you talking about, everything's great, now shut up and do as you're told or you'll get even worse!"

Another great one! I saw that video about the vertical moral system not that long ago and it really shook me. I was glad to see it again in the context of this video because it really connected some dots for me. Watching this made me wonder what his show would look like if Hasan Minhaj was still around. It would benefit Jon to have more progressive people challenging him, but I understand why he probably never will do that.

I'm aware of the audio issues, but this is proving to be a very strange error that is not proving easy to fix since the error isn't in my project timeline

I was just watching this on Nebula and after the 2nd or 3rd bit of dropped audio (the one that ends when you say "I'm so good at pitching") I stopped and came here to see if the Patreon cut was different; I see from the comments above that it isn't.

Thanks for catching that, I'm working to fix this issue, some weird tech glitch

Over the next 10/15 minutes there are a few more missing audio bits, including the patreon shout out

Thanks for catching that! It is not on purpose. The line that got silenced was: "While Stewart is often focused on labor, he often fails to look at issues through the lens of capital—frequently agreeing with his guests that fixing regulations and spending are just as important as taxation" Not sure why that happened so I'm not sure I can fix it in a reasonable time frame whoops!

At 26:57 theres a few seconds of silence. I'm not sure if that's on purpose or not.
