Steins;Gate 1x16 Reaction "Sacrificial Necrosis"

Such an incredibly heartwarming episode. The moment I saw Daru in that alleyway, despite playing it off at first, it honestly clicked for me already that he must be Suzuha's dad. I just love how all these story arcs are slowly coming full circle.

Ahh yeah thanks for clearing that up!

I've kinda been rewatching already through the reactions themselves so no worries :) I actually finished the show a week ago or so because I couldn't resist the binge haha

23:00 Okabe sent a D-Mail to himself on the day Suzuha was supposed to go back in time after failing to meet her father saying "Don't follow. SERN trap."

I must say, Steins;Gate is a show that both does the time travel and the characters well. Not many in the same field can make you feel for the characters and having a basic understanding of the time travel mechanic.

Suzuha is such a good character and her story is so sad. When i heard "I failed, i failed, i failed..." i really got emotional.

I don't read comments but I'm guessing there are a lot of people telling you all the little details you've missed. This series has a massive rewatch value but it diminishes every time you read unnecessary explanations. Do the right thing and ignore the comments. If you're reading this for some reason, rewatch episode 1 again as soon as you finish the last ep for a taste of what I mean :)

Suzuha was a really tragic character. Her life really depicts what a painfully lonely and unfair job time traveling is. She had to go back in time and live in a virtually unknown world with unfamiliar people on two separate occasions (2010 and 1975). Sure, Suzuha found company with the lab members in 2010, but she always knew that she couldn’t stay. At some point, she’d leave them and jump back to 1975, never able to create any more fun memories in the lab. This is why Okabe and Daru are so worried for her, and it’s also why Okabe asks Suzuha if she regrets ever meeting them. Once she does go to 1975, the only familiar face she sees for the rest of her life is Mr. Braun. We don’t even know if she makes any new friends in her life after she leaps back. What I think adds on to the loneliness even more is the secret Suzuha had to keep to herself all this time about her being a time traveler. Keeping a secret gets more and more unbearable the longer you keep it—at some point it almost drives you mad. To have been the only person in the world who knew about her real identity and all the pain she’s gone through must have put even more stress on Suzuha’s mind. With everything that’s happened to her—and everything she’s been denied of—no wonder she wasn’t mentally sound in her final years. also because of Okabe’s D-mail, she died without ever knowing who her father is... This episode broke my heart in so many ways.

Okabe sent a D-Mail that prevented himself from stopping Suzuha when she was originally going to leave for 1975, before the time machine was damaged from a storm. Therefore, like Mayuri said, he sacrificed Suzuha meeting her father in exchange for allowing her to complete her mission. It was that night she tried to find daru at the time travel meet up and then just didn’t come back. Okabe sent himself a message to follow her that day and stopped her from leaving but since she didn’t leave, a storm that night broke the time machine causing her memory loss situation. By stopping himself from following her that day with a new message he essentially canceled out the first one and because he didn’t follow her, she left in the time machine that night before the storm that damages it.

Oh yeah those glitchy graphics turned out to be a nothing burger. I'm guessing Crunchyroll uploaded some slightly glitchy renders haha!
