Added 2023-09-07 11:04:37 +0000 UTCThanks to Julian for requesting this reaction! Wow. Episode 1 of Fate/Zero was an absolute infodump, and I felt thrown right into the middle of it. I truly hope I did a decent enough job trying to follow the story so far, but thankfully, I was able to take some time to process all the information much better before recording my review. Looking back at this reaction and having already seen a few episodes further, I'm happy to tell you already that I got into the show so much more and am absolutely loving the ride! Episode 2 will be posted next week!

It's a mess in the animes because it was adapted anarchically, but it's easy for the original visual novels: 1. Fate/stay night (3 routes in that order: fate, then unlimited blade works, then heaven's feel) 2. Fate/hollow ataraxia 3. then lastly Fate/zero, which spoils most of the Heaven's feel route in F/sn. Fate/zero was originally designed to be the end of the trilogy.

2023-09-08 22:47:24 +0000 UTCI think you’ll really enjoy fate, lol I’ll finally be the first person to say I think you should’ve started with fate stay/night unlimited blade works, but zero is completely fine too, just maybe a little more complicated, each series has spoilers for the other one so it truly doesn’t matter, there’s a lot to pick apart, the series as a whole is so dense. Lol also if you’re ever really confused about something may I introduce you to the words everyone in the fate fandom holds dearly… don’t worry about it

Reading the wiki summary once more really helped and by episode 2 I didn't struggle following what was going on anymore at all lmao. But maybe things get super complicated again later!

There would be some confusion going on and I believe the viewers are not going to blame you for that. Slowly you will figure out about the character and the lore but if you don't, where will be some guidance in the comments. This series is one of my favorite anime, because of the high quality animation and deep lore. You brought up a good point about the game aspect. The Holy Grail War is a battle royal death game with different class and each class has there own unique ability . The Holy grail grants the winner the wish they desire.
