I love what they did with the color at the beginning of the episode. The color is normally so oversaturated that going to black and white, is so much noticeable. It gives a really good visual indication of Shiro's mindset. As for Othello (or Reversi, the original game that doesn't specify the starting position), Sora and Shiro were actually playing Othello on their PSP thing a few episodes ago. The rules are pretty simple. The board starts with a 2x2 square like this x o o x You alternate putting down pieces such that it goes, the piece you just put down, any number of your opponents pieces in a straight line (horizontal, vertical or diagonal), a piece you have. An example of a first move x o x o x x x x o x -> o x -> o x In Othello the corners are the most valuable spots, since they can never be overturned, as well as providing the longest lines to overturn. Similarly edge spots are very valuable, and center spots, not very valuable. It is very possible to be losing up until you pull you a massive overturn to win (though if you were good you'd prevent this sort of thing from happening).
