Haha I don't mind the controversial takes at all, it's normal that when these topics come close to real life situations then sometimes you have to resort to speaking about them. I'm openminded to the perspectives of everyone anyway so don't feel like you need to hold back at all. As long as people respect each other's views then it's all good with me. Yeah I do get having different standards when it comes to an anime like this compared to real life, and therefore being able to root for Light. Idk, I don't really find myself rooting for him but I don't do that for characters often anyway. I'm mostly just eager to see it play out and discover what happens in the story. Funny though how Naomi's death didn't do much for you, when I did feel pretty bad about it. Mostly because her character was easier to root for for me.

But then again if a viewer tells me differently I automatically assume they must be right because they've watched the whole show and are probably better informed then me :P But good to know I was correct then!

But people support Light in context of the show, which doesn't have anything to do with the real world and there's no real consequences. I absolutely root for Light but I wouldn't if he were real you know, I think that's the case for a lot of people. Also I don't necessarily feel a lot about most characters, like Naomi for example. Her death was ruthless but I had absolutely no feelings about it if I'm being real, and that makes it easier to root for Light I guess? It's also just so fascinating to see an alternative reality where crime is handled differently. Obviously there's more ideal ways to deal with lt, like solving poverty and giving everyone access to mental health services. Prevention instead of punishment. It'd be great with a notebook that did that, it'll never happen otherwise if we're being realistic. But alternatively, the death note is also a tool of prevention, everyone becomes too scared to actually break the law in the future. And yeah he also kills petty criminals. If it were just murderers, Kira would be too easy to support I think and the show honestly wouldn't be as thought provoking and complicated. I'm against the death penalty in real life and I believe in rehabilitation rather than punishment, but a LOT of places still have the death penalty and honestly I don't know what's worse between a corrupt justice system that is heavily influenced by religion and shady politicians, or Kira.That's a bit controversial so I'll stop there ๐

Light would not announce to her that he was Kira unless he was 100% sure he'd won. You can also tell with the way he is smirking while offering her the phone.

2022-07-11 14:33:40 +0000 UTCthe way i see light being rootable is his end goal, having a world without any crime and no people being the victim of murderers. now that might sound hypocritical since light has already gotten innocent people killed, and this where the morality of it all comes in. a world without any crime vs the current world with crime. all the innocent people that dies in the current world due to murderers etc. the amount of people that could be saved in a world without any criminals is too high of a number to ignore which is why light is doing what he's doing to make that happen. this might be a bit off topic but think of the world we live in today, there is crime but its not like the entire world is at war with eachother. but let's say that was the case but in the past. and the reason we don't have war right now is because mr kira was hard at work. would you be okay with that? or would you rather that kiras victims that you have no idea about would still be alive today but at the cost of going back to a world with war? this is the reason death note is my all time favorite because it can open up endless discussions about morality and many other things.
