Attack on Titan 1x09 Definitive Reaction "Where The Left Arm Went"

Loved the introduction scenes to Levi and Hange in hindsight. And who could've guessed we'd spend so long before getting to the basement or even figuring out Grisha's motivations (which as mentioned in the episode I'm still not 100% sure on). Let me know if there's anything I missed and I'll be sure to bring it up soon!

Grisha was depressed af after he killed the Reiss, because he didn't know yet that his wife had died. Once he learned that she died he went back to full blown restaurationist agenda, gave little Eren the Founder and the Attack Titan and sent him on his way.

The youseebiggirl song you are thinking of from episode 1 is actually a song called “Vogel Im Kafig” it actually uses some of the same instruments and sound themes but slightly altered, it’s used in episode 1 and episode 21 from what I remember mostly but it also has its own unique sounds to the song which is used at the end of episode 7 when mikasa is saying something about the embodiment of humanities rage line. The title translates to “Bird in a cage” or something like that I think, which refers to eren feeling like a caged animal and of course this show loves to show birds which represent freedom. Kinda crazy how the soundtracks in this show really add an even deeper layer to the context of the show. Play both of those songs and you can see the similarities in the sounds.

Omg I don't know why I only just now made the connection, but this is the first time this dilemma and question is raised in the show, "are you a man, or a Titan?" Little did we know then this would be the very focus for the latter half of the series. It's the very argument and reason why Paradis can't simply join the rest of the world. No matter what they do or say, nothing changes the fact that they have the potential to turn into Titans. Another detail to think about is even though Pixis ends up saving them from this situation, it's only because of the potential for them to use Erens Titan for military benefit, as a weapon, very much like the way Marley uses them too. They're not really viewed as humans anymore. These ideas are introduced very early on but we don't have the full picture or context as to how relevant they are to the over arching story

So a few notes: They made a point to show Levi's germophobe/clean freak nature when he got titan blood on his hand, but notice how he didn't care about the dying soldier's blood and grasped his bloody hand. He didn't find it gross. Yes, you should recognize the man and woman with the panicky commander guy. It's Rico and Ian, two of the three-member squad protecting Eren during the boulder mission. You will see more of them in the coming episodes, but we've seen Ian with Mikasa since episode 5. Eren's partial transformation is more due to not needing a full titan to protect them in that moment, because titan transformations are goal-oriented. He had fully regenerated, so in theory, he could have become a full titan if the goal in his mind required a full titan. And finally, I won't go too much into Grisha's motivations in that moment, as I'm still not 100 percent sure about them either, but notice how he said "If you want to save Mikasa and Armin, and everyone else..." These are the EXACT SAME words that Kruger says to Grisha at the end of 3x21 that made all the fans go 'wtf is there time travel now?' So we can assume those words came from adult Eren Jaeger, who sent them to Kruger, who spoke them to Grisha before the main trio was even born, who then spoke them to 10 year old kid Eren, who later in life sends the words to Kruger. That's a time loop for you.

Oooh but 'ERENtheCoordinate' comes to mind. I would love for you to give that one a listen. It's so nostalgic, it literally feels like you're in the middle of all of that chaos in the final few episodes of season 2. It's one of my favorites.

It's crazy to see how early the basement got teased, but we actually had to wait 50+ episodes to get there lol

I will try to remember to give you some recommendations for AoT tracks to listen to. I gotta look up the names - they're all so weird that it's hard to remember them. xD
