Attack on Titan 1x14 Definitive Reaction "Still Can't See"

The problem is that even in self defence, a nine year old killing a guy by stabbing him in the face repeatedly and telling him he is a bastard who should die, as well as calling them "animals that merely resembled humans" is not really "normal". We are happy for this of course, but let's be honest, every other person in this whole universe would have not gone there alone in the first place and if they had, they would have died.

You sometimes mention Levi's ego, but if you watch carefully, he really is not egotistical at all, and not just because he's correct about how badass he is. Every single time he comments on his own abilities, it's in relation to some tactical purpose for those abilities. He's simply stating facts. They needed someone who could be a convincing safety net against Eren's potential betrayal or loss of control, and he literally is the only one who can handle it. Petra even comments on this later on, when Oruo is trying to imitate Levi because he looks up to him so much. Oruo is being all boastful and obnoxious and she says something along the lines of, 'Are you trying to imitate Captain Levi again? You sound nothing like him. The captain doesn't talk like that'. So it's a subtle, fine line here between blunt and egotistical, one that Petra sees but Oruo missed. Also, obviously I don't expect you to remember this exchange, since you barely remember Petra at all, but I felt the need to defend Levi, since the story itself highlights the difference between arrogance and speaking of your own skills as a matter of fact.

Just to clarify - people like Pastor Nick and some of the Interior MPs know about the Reiss family being the true royals and the titans in the walls, but NO ONE except for Frieda (and Uri before her) knows about Marley and the outside world. Rod Reiss himself didn't know, by his own admission. He even said that people with the bloodlines immune to the memory wipe, even THEIR living descendants didn't know the whole story.

Nile's point was actually a good one imo. It wasn't about whether killing the kidnappers to save Mikasa was justified (clearly it was), but rather that two NINE year olds stabbed three guys to death. Eren even stabbed the one guy a bunch of times after he was already down. It's just the savagery of it in contrast with their age at the time. As the viewer, I think we were also supposed to see that scene in ep 6 and go wtf. Mikasa made sense, we saw her realize that you have to fight or be devoured, we saw her snap, and later we find out her Ackerman powers were triggered in that moment. Plus they just killed her parents in front of her. EREN, however, was so brutal and unhinged that to this day, I strongly believe it was somehow the influence of adult Eren in that moment. Sure, kid Eren wasn't a titan yet, but he saw the future (in his dream in episode 1) before he was a titan, so why not?

This is the episode I was referring to on your ep 1 rewatch. Now we see Pastor Nick in fancy clothes, and he's now apparently in a powerful enough position to speak (a LOT) at this hearing. The attack on Wall Maria five years ago made a LOT of people turn to the Wall Church, which makes sense, as many people would see the attack as divine retribution for not being faithful to the Walls. And Pastor Nick DOES know all about the titans in the walls and the secret royal family. The entire church is a ruse to prevent people from trying to meddle with/renovate the walls. The reason he's so protective of the walls is because he doesn't want any of those titans to see the light of day, which would not only give too much information to the people, but also risk awakening some of the titans - basically it would cause a miniature, uncontrolled Rumbling, with Colossals just roaming around doing Colossal titan things. The whole purpose of the Wall Church is to prevent this from happening.
