Not in animes. But little is known about the 1st war and the 2nd war tbh, it's revealed in the Heaven's Feel route (only in the vn, not in the movies) that in the first war you only had the three original families: the Einzberns, the Matous and the Tohsakas fighting. The war is a like a ceremony (which generally fails), collecting blood to create the "grail" (allegedly). They figured out 3 people wasn't enough, so in the second they were 7. As I said it was a useless blood bath. There is more information on the 3rd war, but it's on Fate/hollow ataraxia, the sequel of Fate/stay night. You will never see this game adapted, it's very interactive so hardly possible. It's set after Fate/stay night in a weird world that mixes the outcome of the 3 routes (yeah... but there's a reason). You quickly realize that world isn't normal and you're trapped in a timeloop in which you have to do everything "right". The dangers are only at night, the days is mostly a slice of life, little mini-games, and fanservice with all the characters in what appears to be a perfect and peaceful world. All of this doesn't explain why I'm saying it's about the 3rd war, since I said it's after Fate/stay night, thus after the 5th war... Well actually, some events in F/ha happen exactly as they did during the 3rd war (it's a mystery at first). You play a lot of the game from the perspective of a very important character from Fate/stay night, but which you never saw in that game because that character died just before the story began (you just "hear" about her). That person, re-live parts of the 3rd war and team up with a character crucial in that old war, probably the most important servant to explain the corrupted state of the grail after the 3rd war: Angra Mainyu (also known as Ahreman/Ahriman irl). You will never hear about him in the animes though, sorry. Note that other games and animes were created afterward about Fate, with the same concept, but it's generally separate and about other worlds. It never really develops the lore of the original trilogy (F/stay night, F/hollow ataraxia and F/zero), which was kind of a complete story.

2023-12-20 22:34:53 +0000 UTCNote that Avalon is the artifact they used to summon Arthuria/Saber, and that if Irisviel didn't need it to survive, Saber would have her most powerful noble phantasm. More than Excalibur. It's said quickly in the Fate zero books at that point, because it's things the readers are supposed to already know from F/sn, and because it's not very relevant to Fate zero's story (apart from explaining why it's not used).

2023-12-19 00:06:54 +0000 UTCJust to clarify all that church stuff, the church in that world isn't what you may think it is, in a way it's like an equivalent of the Magic Association, it's an organization (albeit a religious one) which actively hunts down those they deem problematic in the hidden world full of magic you've been watching in that series. Kirei is an executor, a fighting force of the church. They didn't always oversaw the Grail Wars, with all those rules. But after the second war which was an absolute bloodbath, they were tasked with regulated them. Fate zero is the 4th war, and Fate stay night (all the routes) is the 5th war.
