I definitely had the vibe that Fuji-nee might have been in love with Kiritsugu! There clearly was history at the very least, otherwise she wouldn't have obviously kept visiting his grave. But yeah as an anime viewer only I obvs didn't get to see much of Kiritsugu's time raising Shirou at all

2024-03-12 10:24:42 +0000 UTCFor me, the best part of this episode is Saber genuinely enjoying herself on this "date" eating all kinds of food! The routes are pretty similar in the beginning (in anime terms, maybe for about 3 episodes). And yes, Saber is quite different here in UBW compared to Fate/Zero, which can partly be explained by the fact that Fate/Zero has a different author than the rest of Fate. Also, the first route of Fate/stay night focuses on Saber, so she basically takes a back seat in the other routes (UBW and Heavens Feel), to let other characters shine more. Regarding Fuji-nee and Kiritsugu, I think Kiritsugu mostly knew her grandfather (who is a yakuza boss), but Fuji-nee came over to Kiritsugu's and Shirou's house a lot. She basically filled an "older sister" role for Shirou, which is why they are so close. In the VN we usually get to read Shirou's thoughts, and in the Caster scene Shirou cannot even bring himself to think of Fuji-nee's name; he doesn't want to imagine her dying/being in this hostage situation at all. Oh, and Fuji-nee also might have had a little crush on Kiritsugu. Btw, Kirei basically revealed Caster's identity, he called her "Princess of Colchis". Oh, and that song at the end is (I think) a new version of the OP song of the 2006 anime, "This Illusion". It's a pretty iconic song for the Fate franchise.
