In terms of raw power, Geld would actually be stronger than Rimuru during the fight. We know this because he had evolved into the Orc Disaster. So Geld was a Demon Lord Seed and Rimuru was not because he did not yet meet the requirements. But, as you say and Rimuru says during the fight, Predator is a better skill than Starved for combat, so Geld could not win and this allowed Rimuru to talk to him and convince him to give up and leave the rest to him.

We see that immediately afterwards with Geld. Rimuru also would not die if his 'head' was cut off because he is a Slime mimicking a human.

2024-11-15 06:12:28 +0000 UTCThere's a lot going on behind the scenes in the battle between Rimuru and Geld. The Kijin's Skills were received from Rimuru originally. These are Skills to which the individuals are particularly suited, the Kijin perfected them, and they can use these particular Skills better than Rimuru can. The Kijin attempted to defeat Geld by using these Skills simultaneously, and it didn't work. Rimuru then realized it wouldn't work for him to try the same thing. He then let Great Sage attempt defeating Geld. Great Sage would always choose the most logical and optimal action in the fight, but that too failed. So Rimuru was left with few options. If neither raw strength nor logic worked, the only remaining path was instinct. Of all the Skills Rimuru has, the most basic to a slime's nature are absorption and regeneration. Predator was absorption's current form. So it became a fight between two Skills. These Skills are the same level (Unique Skills); however, Starved is a scavenger skill; Predator is a predator skill. Because Rimuru and Geld were about equal in strength, Rimuru had to gain Geld's consent for Rimuru to be able to consume Geld. Btw, the yellow smoke was Geld using corrosion on Rimuru. This battle was difficult and lasted for hours.
