I can finally catch-up. Also a original Spice and Wolf fan and read the first six light novels. I was quite surprised that you chose the show, but I'll think you will like the witty dialogue between Lawrence and Holo.

It's very meta, and is sort of like the original viewers (mom) going to the newer viewers (the child) and saying : let me tell you a story about a wolf God and merchant (the actual plot of the series). The opening scene is also a Easter egg for people who have fully completed the series and is sort of anime original content to get the ball rolling

2024-04-04 19:34:37 +0000 UTCI'm so happy that they've decided to remake this, loved the original series. I'm one of the people that got devastated when they didn't continue more anime production. You're right that it's a character driven show, and it should be kind of lightweight to watch. It's not like some others where every small detail is somehow linked. Just enjoy the humor of Holo teasing Lawrence and banter while Wise Wolf is learning economics and trade. Also, have to call it, Holo is my no. 1 waifu. haha.

2024-04-04 16:51:02 +0000 UTCAs with FMAB, this remake is more faithful to its source material (LN) as the original changed some things and even omitted one volume entirely. I watched the original last year and I really liked it, not that it's complicated but there's always a lot of information to retain about economics and business (since that's what it's mostly about) which made it hard for me to follow a bit since I'm bad at it haha. Fun fact Yarei's VA was the same as Rudeus' mental voice. Great reaction.
