Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II - Lost Butterfly Reaction

Fate/stay night: Heaven's Feel II - Lost Butterfly Reaction

Please don't read the Visual Novel! Every time, 9 out of 10 times, you're speaking from a misunderstanding born entirely from your poor memory or inability to relate to any character, often flanderizing them to make up for your lack of understanding. Having this much trouble with the dumbed down and summarized version of events like this? I can't imagine how you'd confuse yourself trying to read text with even more nuance.

Yeah, I was writing this comment as I was watching, and didn't take that part out. You got it! Another point that I just remembered: In UBW (and in the Fate route for that matter) Sakura basically was just kinda there, only to disappear from the story halfway through. I think that was intentional, as it mirrors Shirou's view of Sakura in those two routes; Sakura is there, and a good friend, but Shirou kind of overlooks her and her suffering. Not a good look for a self-proclaimed hero of justice D:

Thanks for the explanations man! I think I did ultimately realize the Ilya thing regarding Kiritsugu and talked about it in the review! If I remember correctly

Robin

Haha yeah I can imagine. Thanks for all the explanations! I still wonder what Sakura was doing though during Unlimited Blade Works, and why she didn't have those same issues happening to her then

Robin

Haha I believe it! I should definitely check out the VN at some point

You dont know how stressful I am when reading the VN because it's like 5 times longer than the anime. We're slowly given hints that the shadow thing is Sakura while Shirou trying his best to ignore or make other conclusions with these hints

Again, thank you for the reactions. It was funny when you speculated about Sakura becoming the enemy during Unlimited Blade Works, and I just thought "you just wait till we get to the Heaven's Feel". But her fate (the damn puns) is really unfortunate, and at the end of this second movie, it's so uncomfortable to realize that she's been through even more than you'd think when coming off of Fate/Zero. And yeah, Fate Stay Night visual novel is an Eroge (erotic game). The later "Realta Nua" (or PS2) version is much more tamed, and has cut or replaced those scenes. For example instead of the transfer of the Magic Crest in the UBW, in the original VN Rin and Shirou required a bit more "intimate" connection to just directly transfer mana. Glad you caught up with the Ilya explanation. The Einzbern castle is actually located in Germany. And the castle we see in FSN is just a smaller castle that Einzbern built as a base for the war (won't say more as it's still kind of spoilers for last movie). And if you liked the animation quality in this, the next one is going above and beyond. πŸ˜…

Enjoyed the reaction! just a few notes: - this new Saber is called Saber Alter (or Salter for short). It's basically a tyrant version of King Arthur. As for her strength, Salter is not actually stronger than normal Saber; it's just that she has a better Master than Shirou, and basically has unlimited mana since she is connected to the Grail itself with Sakura as her Master. That means she can use her Mana Burst skill without limits, and also unleash Excalibur multiple times without problems. - We also finally learn what Gilgamesh said to Sakura during the prologue; he was basically telling her to die, since it would be a kinder fate than what she is becoming D: - Archer lowkey is the MVP of this movie. What the anime skipped: no one in the forest could actually attach Archer's arm to Shirou, so they went to Kirei and had him do it. That means, Archer held on basically three-quarter dead, and without an arm- if he let himself disappear, the arm would disappear too, until it was attached to Shirou! Pure willpower from Archer. - yeah, both Sakura and Rin saw Shirou doing the high jumps, and for both, it was an important memory. They're pretty similar in that, being sisters I guess. - Also, we finally see Illya hearing in no uncertain terms that Kiritsugu tried to get to her several times, but he obviously failed. Seems you forgot that fact, this came up in the last Fate/Zero episode as well. Speaking of Illya, the movies skip a lot of scenes with her (also with Kirei for that matter), unfortunately. One scene I remember well, Illya and Shirou went shopping for groceries, and on the way back Illya sang a German folk song "Die Lorelei". Very sweet scene. - while it is true that the original Visual Novel was an eroge, the H-scenes were a pretty tiny part of it. The Fate route had 2 H-scenes, UBW only one, and Heavens Feel like 4 or 5. The H-scenes were replaced in a new version of the Visual Novel with different scenes.
