It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia 8x10 Full Length Reaction

Comments

Haha I get that it can be lonely experience expressing those thoughts, but you shouldn't let that hold you back. Your opinion is just as valid as the next person. I try to remain open minded to everyone as long as their arguments are well laid out. The older I get, the less political I've gotten tbf. Believe it or not, I used to actually make videos on my gaming channel complaining about political agenda's lmao. Just YouTube search for "The Naughty Dog Agenda" and you'll find a video from my RobinGaming channel back in 2018 that got around 700K views. While the like ratio and comments were overwhelmingly positive, it ended up getting me cancelled on a few gaming forums and people on Twitter tried to get developers to disassociate from me lol. But to be honest, my mindset has shifted since then to a point where I only want to focus anymore on things I can actively control myself. I haven't necessarily changed in the direction I personally lean towards, but I have developed a line of thinking where I feel like any complaining about politics is a complete waste of my time. I'd rather bring positive content myself that people can simply enjoy or learn from instead of focusing all my energy on criticizing other people or their works.

i didn't pick up on this either until the later seasons, now in hindsight i'm seeing it here but it's much more subtle. in the recent seasons there's so many times where they're actually making good points but it's obvious they're supposed to represent a backwards way of thinking and be the butt of the joke. i get so much hate whenever i mention this, and how i feel the show used to be more balanced, and everyone piles on telling me the whole point of the show was always to shit on "the right" and people like me don't get it because i didn't realize the show was making fun of me all along lol just assuming i'm some trump supporter. like they're really coming from a tribal place of left vs right and Rob and the writers in the later season really are in that mindframe too unfortunately. you are right that 2016 really broke a lot of people's brains. maybe i should've saved this comment for like season 13 so just file it away for now haha it's really not an issue these next few seasons. of course you will have your own take but i think we're kinda similar politically, being independent minded. just the fact you get where i'm coming from is far more than i usually get. i'm the black sheep of sunny reaction comment sections XD

Ah yeah that would be a shame to see. I've always appreciated the balanced approach Sunny took, always making sure to mock all sides to any topic. I do imagine that 2016 played some role in the balance shifting in the show. Anyway, I'll be judging for myself to see if I'll agree with you or not but I'll definitely be bringing up what I think no matter what! I honestly didn't really see how we were meant to automatically mock Mac in this episode, I personally thought he had a valid point lmao. Could be a perception thing, or maybe my own logic is just flawed that I saw him as bringing up a great point lmao.

i don't want to get too into it right now but something that happens a lot in the show, more and more in the later seasons is the show presenting a strawman version to mock conservatives. while mac made some decent points about blindly having faith in science as a religion, we are meant to mock and laugh at mac. in this episode it's still pretty chill but it becomes more obnoxious in later seasons. mac/rob listens to only mainstream liberal sources and then makes the gang take the opposite position as satire. the problem with that is life is far more complicated than conservative vs liberal, people can't be broken into these 2 categories. i personally think left vs right is a psy-op to divide us on tribal lines so we can't organize and reform corruption. this show will very rarely take it to that level of social satire. south park is generally better at that the main problem i have with the later seasons is it really begins to feel like punching down, virtue signaling to liberal audiences, making fun of conservatives which is low hanging fruit nowadays. which makes sense after they've been in hollywood so long dammit i said i wasn't going to get into it now. but that basically sums up why i think there's so much divisiveness later seasons. this episode is fantastic so i'm not even complaining, just pointing out a dynamic that will become more apparent in the future.
