Koby has a cover page story with Helmeppo that shows his training as a marine and Garp finding him which also got adapted into a couple episodes of the anime, and that was long before Garp's grandpa reveal.

2024-07-07 14:15:31 +0000 UTCgarp 'hunting down' luffy was put in to the live action extremely early. in the manga/anime, garp's reveal as luffy's grandpa is way further down the line. koby is also not reintroduced into the story until garp's grandpa reveal which is in like the 300's
