There's so much. I kept it all in my head while I was watching, so I'll probably miss a lot and it'll be out of order. First, it wasn't canon, but now it seems to be. It's not in the books at all, but it doesn't contradict it, and there is reference to it in Season 3. I found the beginning of the movie didn't drawing me in right away, but it did eventually, the first time I saw it. Usually the production values are much higher in an anime movie. I guess the main conflict of the movie partially involving the role of the tiara and Violet, is what mainly needs to be explained. There are seven primordial demons. Diablo is one. The author uses the French words for the colors, who are Noir (Diablo), Rouge (Guy), Bleu (Raine), Vert (Mizeri), Blanc, Jaune, and Violet. Only the first four have names and permanent physical bodies. One misconception I can correct is that gaining a physical body for demons drags them down. Actually it gives them greater freedom. Demons are summoned from the demon realm, which is the only way they can get out. At that time they can only create a temporary body out of magicules, or depend on the surroundings or a gift or payment to somehow get a temporary physical body. Eventually they will dissipate and they are forced to return to the demon plane. A permanent physical body, which can be attained the same way a temporary body can, will enable complete freedom of movement: stay in the physical world, or return to the demon world, and freely go between them. Diablo was given all 20,000 bodies at the scene when Rimuru summoned him, which, along with some magic he performed, gave him that permanent physical body. The other Primordials who have physical bodies didn't get them as gifts, however. You notice Violet, who doesn't have a permanent one, had to give up the fight with Diablo because her temporary one was breaking down. ....... Any monster gaining a name will get stronger. Is it any wonder, then, that they have pride in that? It doesn't necessarily mean they were named by someone (although that is usually true), or that they have a master. Most demons have a need for the right master. The primordials are so strong that few could summon then, let alone control them if they do. Even so, most of these arrangements are temporary. Gaining a permanent body means they don't even need a master to remain in the physical world. Noir sees in Rimuru, for some reason, one worthy of being his master, the first one in his life of over 10,000 years. Why? Well, probably for similar reasons to why Milim wants him to be her best friend, and why Veldora sees him as a friend and equal. What are those reasons? The details vary for each of them, but I think it's all connected. It's a bit speculative. ........ The demon world is a constant battle for supremacy. Each demon, upon becoming a Greater Demon, affiliates with a color. I don't know if it's by choice or not. The color represents their personality. Noir had few followers, he has always been odd. The two demons with Violet are her top two subordinates. ....... Finally, demons don't do anything for nothing. You really have to promise or pay something of equal value. This can reach down to asking Diablo to do something mundane, and if someone does him a favor, he will give him something for it in exchange. Except if it's their master who's doing the asking, although as you can tell by Lacua's example, it's possible to go too far. Violet has a contract with the Queens of (country's name escapes me). She warned the former queen of all the pitfalls but still the Queen willingly took it on. Lacua was basically cheating. Violet had to nullify the contract when she found out. ......... If I have anything more to say, I 'll put it in a different comment.

I had to stop before watching you watch the movie to respond to your intro. Thanks for acknowledging my efforts, as I am here almost alone trying to fill you in, and I know you won't get it to YouTube for quite a while so I almost feel like it's my duty to be that person. I know a lot of what I say would normally be shared between a lot of people on YouTube, but I want you to understand it before that. You do always like my comments and I had to assume that means you read them. Thanks for letting me know. ....... Second part is about Season 3. There's been a bit of controversy, it's true. Most LN readers say that it's as expected, this is what the LN is like, the arcs can concentrate on different things, everyone has their own individual tastes, and some arcs are just not their favorites. Others, and I would include manga readers (where the pacing is much different from the LN, and it hasn't gotten much farther than where the anime is), think this first half, at least, drags, it has too much unnecessary information, the method of presentation could be more varied and exciting. Again: not enough action. It kind of depends on what interests you to some extent. If you like politics, that is the arc for you. As a LN reader, I would call it the most political arc in the whole series. It is also set up for the future. LN readers know that there are other (types of) arcs to come. You are right, there is a lot of commentary out there that attributes watching weekly to be a good part of the problem. But if you are truly interested in or thinking about the material, it might make bingeing too many of these episodes in a row to be a bit mentally challenging. You should be fine, since you do seem interested in the world-building.
