I'm still a bit confused about why you'd theorize that the priest is God. God is omnipotent, capable of anything and as seen in season 3's final episode, he does seem to care about Lucifer. Or at least, we haven't seen God do anything to Lucifer in the whole show, even Amenadiel and Uriel just came out acting what ever they thought would be what God wants. The only three times we have heard God do anything in the series main timeline is give Lucifer his coin back in season 1's finale to stop him from dying, told Amenadiel to bless Chloes parents so they could have Chloe and told Amenadiel to curse Cain he became the first murderer. Every instance of "acts of god" have been people (mostly Lucifer) thinking God is somehow involved.
This isn't some regular family drama or other such things like in most shows, we are talking about a being that knows everything and can do anything, but chooses to not participate. He can literally look at other potential timelines just for fun and created the universe, why would he show up and lie about being a priest, get people killed and fail on basically every step of his?
To quote Lucifer from season 2 ep 14 about why he failed his rebellion against God: “Oh, I don’t know, let’s have a think, shall we? Not enough cardio? The fact that dear old Dad’s slightly almighty?”
I'm following way too many nsfw accounts to use a name here
