Lucifer S3 Episode 23 Reaction

Comments

I agree completely with all of Celia’s insights, having followed her and others through many Reactorr’s Patreon pages through the last few years. This is the first episode of Lucifer that gutted me. We need to consider the backgrounds and situations of the characters (Chloe) when analyzing their actions/reactions to events. Too many fans bashed Chloe for being a pragmatic no-fun person who fell too easily into Pierce’s arms when she should be steadfast in her love for Lucifer. And not believing him when he TOLD her he was the Devil, but has not managed to to provide proof.

I have rewatched this show so many times and yet this episode end still breaks me. However, the will they won't they back and forth of Lucifer and Chloe is more than just that- firstly Chloe still thinks, despite having feelings for Lucifer as we have clearly seen, that he is a bit weird... a hedonistic drug taking sexually promiscuous club owner. Although she cares for him, and is beginning to get past all of that, (a lot to take on as a single parent) she sees him keeping her at arms length all the time and likely thinks that is how it will always be ( hence her crazy leap into Pierce's arms) As for Lucifer, I always thought at this point, although it is clear to all of us watching this story, that he does want Chloe, likely loves her, even if he doesn't even now understand the emotion, but cannot take the step forward we all wanted him to take for very good reasons. He is after all the devil, a different species in fact to Chloe and is terrified that she would run if she knew the truth and part of me thinks that he would feel as if starting a relationship with her would be wrong until and unless she knows the truth and can accept it and everything that comes with it. It's a huge dilemma- Chloe needs to know the truth in order to make an informed decision and Luci is scared at what might happen if she does know the truth. It is complex and complicated. Is it all resolved by the end of this episode after all? BTW we did meet Charlotte's ex when Chloe and Lucifer interviewed him at home looking after his sick kids back in season 2 episode 2, I think, Liar, Liar, Slutty dress on Fire, when Mom was inside Charlotte's body. Wow, that seems so long ago now! I also loved Amenadiel thinking celestials and humans aren't that different. In this universe, I think God created all his angels first and then tinkering with humanity (as Luci once explained) he created them in the same image as the angels- they look similar, function in similar ways except he gave humans mortality and no superpowers. It's an idea isn't it? Sorry, long post today. x
