Ch. 138 Threatening the God of Darkness

Watching Grendel's agonizing struggles as it was consumed by flames within the impact crater, Russell felt that his decision to engage in a battle with Grendel at the North Pole had been a wise one.

Had he fought in Norway or the United States and witnessed Grendel's current state, certain individuals from protective organizations might have jumped out to accuse him of mistreating a "small" creature.

The lives of symbiotes were lives too!

Symbiotes also had the right to survive on Earth!

...

Certain images involuntarily flashed through Russell's mind.

After discovering that it couldn't extinguish the flames by rolling around, Grendel, the mountain-like creature, attempted to flap its wings and fly toward the distant ocean.

However, just as it lifted its enormous wings resembling bat wings, Russell took out two white phosphorus grenades from the system space and hurled them at Grendel.

Boom!

The orange-red flames engulfed Grendel once again.

While the flames relentlessly burned on Grendel's body, Russell, flying in the air, didn't remain idle. He activated the ultrasonic emitter in the palm of his hand once more.

Grendel, already suffering from the unbearable burns, now faced even more "inhumane" attacks.

In normal combat against symbiotes, they indeed were formidable creatures, powerful enough to cause despair.

But as long as the right methods were used, battling symbiotes was no different from dealing with wild beasts on Earth.

The only distinction was that symbiotes had a bit more resilience.

When Russell initially employed ultrasonic waves against Grendel, Knull realized that things were taking a turn for the worse.

The white phosphorus grenades and solid-state incendiary bombs provided further proof of this.

Ultrasonic waves, fire!

Russell had perfectly targeted these two weaknesses of symbiotes.

To make matters worse, due to Russell's ultrasonic and fire attacks, the agonizingly struggling Grendel began to resist his control gradually.

From another perspective, it could be said that Knull was currently unable to manipulate Grendel's body at all.

Ultrasonic waves or fire, both were inherent vulnerabilities of symbiotes.

Even though Knull's soul was attached to Grendel's body, it couldn't alter this fact.

As time passed, Grendel's struggles grew weaker.

While symbiotes possessed incredibly powerful regenerative abilities, even the most robust regenerative capabilities had their limits.

If Grendel hadn't been of such a massive size, Russell might have defeated it much earlier.

When the mountain-sized Grendel finally grew "quiet," Russell ceased tossing white phosphorus grenades and solid-state incendiary bombs onto it.

The activation condition of the "King's Serum" was merely to defeat Grendel; it didn't require him to kill Grendel.

After sensing Grendel's weakening presence, Russell retrieved liquid nitrogen from the system space and began spraying it onto Grendel's body.

Liquid nitrogen wasn't a conventional firefighting method.

Strictly speaking, aside from Russell, there were hardly any individuals who would use liquid nitrogen to put out fires.

Once liquid nitrogen landed on Grendel's body, the flames rapidly extinguished.

Simultaneously, white frost began to form on Grendel's body.

Although Russell had prepared some liquid nitrogen in the system space, it wasn't sufficient to thoroughly freeze Grendel.

After extinguishing the flames on Grendel's body with liquid nitrogen, Russell landed in front of the subdued Grendel and patted its head, which was now placed on the ground higher than his own.

"Let's have a chat. I know you can understand Earth's language!"

Russell wasn't speaking to Grendel now but to Knull, who was attached to Grendel's body.

Despite facing an ancient god of darkness much older than Earth, Russell showed no signs of nervousness or fear.

He didn't deny Knull's immense power.

But that was when Knull possessed his original body.

The Knull currently attached to Grendel's body couldn't even defeat Thor, let alone pose a significant threat.

"A trade? What right do you have to negotiate? You're nothing but a puny human!" Knull looked down on Russell disdainfully.

"You're absolutely right! I am indeed a puny human, incomparable to your great existence."

"But don't forget, I, this puny human, almost killed your host just now."

"If you don't want to negotiate with me, this puny human, then let's forget about it!"

As soon as the words fell, Russell aimed the ultrasonic emitter in his palm at Knull, while his left hand retrieved a white phosphorus grenade from the system space.

Russell demonstrated his stance through actions.

If Knull said a single word against it, he would immediately launch an attack, ensuring Grendel's demise in the process.

"Are you threatening me?"

Knull's expression was colder than the temperature of the North Pole.

"Indeed! I am threatening you. Do you have a problem with that?"
