2022年のまとめ! 2022 Recap!

Hey everybody!

I don't usually write much, but I wanted to write a couple of lines to wrap up this year. First, thank you for your support throughout the year! And thank you for being patient with me and my delays. ^^'

For the most part, it was a constant pace, with some slower periods. For most of the year I was working on the usual longer game projects. Likewise, I was trying to produce as many illustrations as possible here.

However, the end of the year brought changes that will continue into 2023.

December content

First of all, let me give you an update on the current workload. As you've seen, I posted a Pokémon pic that wasn't planned or part of a poll. It was the result of a sketching session, and I decided to finish it while waiting for the poll to wrap up. I hope you like the result. I will put out one or two follow-up illustrations as soon as possible - I like mature ladies too much. ^^

You also saw that the Iono illustration has been sketched out. In the meantime, the lineart base has been finished. So the first thing in January will be to finish her.

Likewise, it looks like many of you have already voted in the December poll. I will keep it open for a bit longer, but right now it seems like Nene will win this one!

I have to admit I'm a bit surprised, but very happy about that! Perhaps there's a vote or two out of sympathy because she's my OC. But she is also among my most popular illustrations on Pixiv, so she might be more popular than I give her credit for. ^^'

So I'm happy to get to work more on her. It's time I finally flesh out her story and give her some friends. So I'll do my best to finally lay the groundwork for that in January. Go Nene!

Changing priorities

For one, it wasn't possible to continue working on the game projects in the same manner anymore. So the game developer and I agreed to abandon a monthly wage system and deadlines. Instead, we will work at a slower pace in commission form from here on out. I know he might not read this, but want to say a heartfelt thanks to Ark for investing so much into my art.

So why is this important? With this shift, the priorities are changing. For the time being, I will focus more on creating content here. Additionally, I will start accepting some commissions. Some commissions will also become rewards for Fanbox subscribers. Details about that are coming soon.

Gumroad/Booth

The full resolution illustrations are only available for the month you pledge in. As a result, people have been asking about Booth/Gumroad packages as a way to get old full resolution images.

One of the priorities for January will be to create packages that I can start offering there. I will post some test prices for packages on Discord, so if you want to give some feedback, you can take a look at the server.

Other projects

Earning a living from my work is pretty awesome. Yet the financial output is not always great. We'll see how things will develop now that I can focus more on this content. At the same time, I have received a couple of offers to join some hentai game projects. I don't intend to abandon Fanbox. But if the offers end up being convincing, I will weigh my options and balance everything as best as I can. If one of those collaboration options happens, I will let you know how things will change going forward. That way you can decide if the Fanbox output will still be interesting enough for you to stay subscribed.

Other thoughts

Fanbox gave us all a scare with their new Terms of Service, but luckily it seems we are safe, at least for now. It's good to see we can still use Pixiv as a creative hub, let's hope we can stay on the safe side in the future!

I also made some milestone improvements when it comes to my art. I moved towards a more complex coloring style and learned new techniques. I expanded my character drawing style a bit to show more variation and improved a lot in drawing backgrounds.

I do wonder how much of that, or which aspects, are interesting to others, maybe it's a me-thing. But nonetheless, it always feels good to wrap up a good illustration! ^^
