Announcement - Subscription Changes

I was planning on opening a couple of sketch commission slots for the end of the month. But I ended up postponing that for a bit (again). And here’s the reason.

For a while now I haven’t been all too happy with the current convoluted subscription system. I was sending out weird combinations of reward links individually. Trying to make sure I don’t mess up and miss somebody – it always felt more complicated than it needed to be. And that led to me sending links out late. I neglected dealing with it while I was rushing to finish illustrations towards the ends of months.

Even without that aspect of the issue, I haven’t been happy for a while now with how everything was set up. I kept postponing working on the issue as I focused on illustrating, but it’s time to tackle it.

So, starting with June, I intend to loosen everything up. The Mini Tier and Medium Tier will be removed. The Mega Tier and Ultra Tier will still contain the finished illustrations and files. But their accessibility will no longer be tied to a specific monthly pledge. They will be accessible for anyone who subscribes at any point.

With this monthly paywall eliminated, I will still produce finished and fully illustrated images. But the uploads will become more irregular. At the same time, the posts will become less monotone and more varied.

I will aim to include a lot more sketching that may not end up being a full color illustration. I want to break up the repetition I’ve fallen into a while back, and sketch more and have more fun along the way. Commissioned works will also find their way to the rewards.

Polls will still be part of the tier rewards. But as with the color illustrations, they will happen more organically, and not always tied to specific months.

There are still issues that I need to solve. One of them is how to post the illustrations. Of course, the easiest thing would be to have them in the posts. But as we know, Fanbox doesn’t allow certain things anymore. They have even removed posts that are fully within guidelines, just because a tag or two can be interpreted in multiple ways. And it’s enough that one of those isn’t to their liking.

I would like to take June to discuss possibilities with all of you, so we can find the best solutions and start July with the new system fully in place. I’d love to hear from you and I appreciate any feedback.
