december doodles and WIPs

fairly large photo post time! here are some various things i've been able to scrounge up from doodlings and commissions

1, 2) first, a warm-up doodle i did of a commissioner's raccoon character, followed by the WIP for the same character's new reference page which is the actual commission! this sketch was approved so this is more or less how the final layout should be <3

3, 4, 5) exploring the character design of an old OC, walden, affectionately known as waddle. he is a kind of cabbit-also-mixed-with-dog species i used to draw with friends in HS who had an animal form and your typical human form with ears/tail. something was never quite right about his human form to me so i'm exploring making him semi-furry, with some fluffy parts and other parts where his skin is visible. i imagine he would be still covered in fine peach fuzz/fur where the skin is visible however, similar in appearance and texture to like when a cat's belly or arm was shaved for an ultrasound or IV and is starting to grow back.
i'd like to tweak his proportions, but i like this fuzzier take on him!

6) some busts. explore hair styles on paya and my gothy faun OC, and a barbara ann the chinchilla. not much to say

7) my friend emily's D&D character, magpen the gnome rogue. she was a bird turned gnome by a witch and as such has birdlike behaviors and has a difficulty with forming sentences with her limited vocabulary. she is unusually tiny, described as waifish, very birdlike in design, and 'looks like god made a mistake.' i might have interpreted her as too cute tho?

8) a rat in people clothes. yep!
