exploring the idea of taking these sort of paper mario inspired commissions (prices still undecided), i thought i might do it in either two or three levels since people have expressed interest in non-animated commissions in this style:
Sticker - a single flat drawing in the chibi art style; no alternate pieces or expressions (might not do this one, since the lack of pieces makes the use of the art style feel pointless)
Doll - posed character with alternative pieces. commissioner gets 4 different images (one in default pose, 3 with poses created out of the various pieces), and the layered PSD for them to play with themselves if they want
Puppet - animated character with alternative pieces. commissioner gets 4 different images (one default pose, 3 with poses created out of the various pieces, the layered PSD for them to play with themselves, AND 1 short looping animation in gif and mp4 formats (similar to the peepo animations from before). they will also get to add up to 3 additional animations for a fee a piece
this barbara ann was made as a doll under these specifications - no animation, but various poses created by translating and rotating the many pieces i created. technically this piece could be upgraded into an animated character if i brought it to blender and rigged it, but for the purpose of examples i'll probably leave it as a doll
also is it just me, or does barb have sanrio vibes here as well? i guess this style is more of a fusion of things that are cute, but shaded and fashioned specifically for the paper mario TTYD animation style
so my patrons can better understand what this kind of Doll commission would entail, please help yourself to the PSD to see how i created these poses. you can create new poses yourself out of the base pose by rotating pieces, just make sure they pivot from places that make sense. you can find and adjust the pivot point using the transform tools in photoshop and in clip studio paint as well - activate the transformations tool and move the pivot point (indicated by a crosshair) from the center of the transform range box to the location where the limb should pivot from (arm at the shoulder, tail at base, head at neck region, etc). this is how i created these poses!
