i went for the soft shading style similar to a lot of 2D mario artwork nintendo puts out including the TTYD paper mario style. i never used it for art outside of the paper mario style commissions and i think it looks really nice on regular artwork too! definitely a fun way to color a commission and suits cute simple toon designs like these
