Narrative: It’s been a week after Shinji Ikari was defeated. Shinji was badly injured in the battle and SEELE captured the pilot that they deemed most dangerous to them. After they studied his body thoroughly, Shinji became useless to them. Instead of killing him, they decided to torture Shinji for two reasons. First, they are going to use Shinji's misery to erode the morale of NERV. Second, they just want to torture the person who brought them so much trouble.
Shinji: ALEEE...

I believe many people (like me) also like seeing sexy muscular hunks defeated and tortured too, but I agree that lean and toned heroes are number 1.
