"Now that you know this much, I should also tell you about the dream I had before going out to the sea."
"Yes, I'm looking forward to hearing what that one was like," Kishiar replied, shifting his position. This time, he set the milk glass on the bedside table and slid down to lie on Yuder's legs. Looking down from above, Yuder could definitely see Kishiar's face a little better than before, which he liked.
"Am I too heavy?" Kishiar asked.
"No," Yuder answered, slipping his fingers through the strands of hair stuck to Kishiar's forehead to brush them aside. The softly rustling sensation was very pleasant.
"Good."
A nice scent wafted from Kishiar, who was elegantly stretched out like a satisfied predator under Yuder's touch. As Yuder traced Kishiar's straight forehead with his fingertips, he carefully caressed Kishiar's cheeks and ears, following the alluring scent that seemed to guide him. Kishiar's blinking red eyes closed halfway, looking much more at ease.
Honestly, in that moment, Yuder thought about kissing Kishiar a little more rather than talking. If he hadn't been clearly aware of the importance of the story he had to tell, he would have gladly given in to that impulse.
The third white glove dream he had this time was very important. If it weren't for that dream, Yuder wouldn't have been able to change his thoughts about the hand wearing the white glove as he did now, and he might not have been able to face the disaster that hit the South so calmly.
And even now, the memory of looking inside the glove at the bare skin remained like a nail stuck in the corner of Yuder's heart...
"..."
A feeling similar to the moment when he stared at the horizon beyond the fog-filled sea, convinced that the waves had been resolved, came over him. The moment Yuder let out a long breath to release that feeling from within himself, Kishiar raised his hand and placed it over Yuder's hand resting on his cheek.
The two hands, gripping each other tightly, were slowly led to Kishiar's chest.
Through the open shirt, Yuder could feel the warm body temperature on the skin touching his hand.
The gentle rising and falling movement with each breath.
And the heart beating well without any problem.
Kishiar had the ability to give Yuder what he needed without any conversation. Even if it was something Yuder himself didn't know he wanted.
Yuder's lips slowly parted. The first words flowed out much more smoothly than he had agonized over.
"In the dream I had that day, I was still in a black space. Since I was meeting the white-gloved hand for the third time, I thought I would ask the questions I was curious about while I had the chance. I was also going to make it clear that I didn't go there again because I wanted to."
Honestly, it wasn't a very mature attitude. Seeing the white glove that didn't react no matter what he said reminded him of Kishiar from his previous life, which annoyed him.
However, the reaction the hand showed to Yuder's attitude, full of complaints like a real twenty-year-old...
At that moment, the chest under their overlapping hands suddenly swelled. It was because Kishiar laughed. As their eyes met, Kishiar shook his head with a deliberately serious expression.
"Hmm... I'm sorry for suddenly laughing. I couldn't help but find it adorable when I thought about how you might have said it. So? What did the other party answer?"
Yuder silently looked down at the man's laughter before replying.
"The reaction was exactly... the same as now."
Unlike Kishiar from his previous life, the current Kishiar often laughed in various ways when looking at Yuder. When Yuder had just joined the Cavalry, Kishiar showed a glamorous, wall-like smile not much different from what he showed others. Sometimes, he showed the habitual smile of someone trying to maintain patience in a difficult situation. Occasionally, there was also a painful smile that appeared briefly, mixed with agony, among his many smiles.
And when Kishiar's feelings toward Yuder flowed out sincerely, he would laugh almost without making a sound, just like now.
Like a breeze gently tickling his hair.
With a dense emotion that seemed to change even the air.
No one in the world would imagine Kishiar laughing like that, but Yuder had already seen that smile many times. Now, he could roughly picture in his mind what kind of smile Kishiar was making just by the slight change in the surrounding air.
That's why, even with only the hand and the changing air around the other party, Yuder could imagine that expression.
With an utterly bewildering feeling.
Yuder continued speaking while looking at Kishiar's face, who had stopped laughing.
"Even though there was only a pair of hands, I could tell. And then it answered me."
It said it was really amazing that Yuder treated it as itself, even though only that much remained.
"It did say it would be better not to... but it also replied that the guesses I had made were almost correct. Of course, the guesses I mentioned then were..."
"The things I had said?" Kishiar asked in response.
"Yes."
"I see... And what else did it say?"
“It said that I have these dreams of going there when 'the gap widens.'”
"A gap. Does it mean a crack?"
"It said ‘between there and here,’ I thought it might be."
But Yuder still couldn't figure out exactly what the next words meant.
“'Then you are naturally drawn. By the remnants of power that hasn't completely burnt out at the end of causality...'”
“‘Through the connection.’”
"Connection," Kishiar muttered, following Yuder's words. They simultaneously looked at the golden threads hanging between them. They had seen it earlier, but now their gaze held a much heavier weight.
The beating in Yuder's chest, and the beating under the skin where his hand rested, both seemed to beat a little louder for a moment, as if they had made a promise.
"I thought about what the word 'power' meant when it mentioned the remnants of power that hadn't completely burnt out. I felt that if I could see the hand under the glove, I might be able to find out more of the answer. So... I took it off."
The white-gloved hand did not resist Yuder's movement.
Inside the removed glove, there was a scar infinitely similar to the mark left on Yuder's hand now, but much more terrible.
Yuder had seen them before in the forgotten memories called dreams, so he knew that Kishiar from his previous life seemed to have had problems with the vessel again during the Red Stone retrieval mission. However, he never expected to confirm that evidence there, in that way.
No matter how close to the truth his guess was, the moment of directly confirming it was never the same as what he had thought in his head.
How could he possibly describe how he felt at that moment?
Kishiar's bare hand, which Yuder had never seen even once during the nearly two years of his previous life.
The traces of the answer that held all the truths Yuder wanted to know but couldn't, the truths he didn't want to believe.
Just recalling the emotions he felt then made his hands tremble slightly. Even though he had started the story after sufficiently preparing himself, the truth related to Kishiar always shook Yuder.
If Kishiar's hand hadn't gripped his hand a little tighter, it might have been difficult for him to continue the story. Yuder opened his dry lips slightly, looking at the long fingers tightly holding his hand as if to cover and swallow all the trembling of his hand and firmly support it.
"...Actually, I..."
"..."
"As you may already know, I didn't have... particularly good feelings towards the previous Commander."
“...”
"He taught me many things, but at the same time, he revealed nothing. I thought that just as I came to resent and hate him... he must have felt the same way about me from the beginning. That seeking me out was just a momentary whim, like a fleeting fancy. That we were merely tied together by ill fate, our paths crossing for a brief moment in life, never to be connected again."
And their relationship had come to an end with the worst possible outcome befitting such words.
One as a murderer, the other as the murdered.
Yuder had deliberately tried to never think of him again. He thought everything had ended like that.
"But the moment I saw those scars there... everything I had seen and experienced since coming back flashed through my mind."
The man he now knew.
How much he was a person worthy of love.
And how much he, too, cherished and loved Yuder unconditionally and blindly.
The face of the Emperor who, facing death due to the aftereffects of the injury to his vessel, couldn't even bring himself to touch his wife and put on an endlessly cold facade.

2024-10-24 06:14:27 +0000 UTCThis is why I hope previous game Kishiar can know some of the joy his Yuder is feeling now. It’s so painful and bittersweet and tragic the brothers’ loves were.

2024-03-24 18:26:50 +0000 UTCI’ll be ugly crying over here with a mountain of tissues. This part below honestly hit the hardest. The brothers are the same in their love and they tried so hard in the first game. “How much he was a person worthy of love. And how much he, too, cherished and loved Yuder unconditionally and blindly. The face of the Emperor who, facing death due to the aftereffects of the injury to his vessel, couldn't even bring himself to touch his wife and put on an endlessly cold facade.”

2024-03-22 05:43:05 +0000 UTCIn the first timeline Kishiar gave Yuder the highest position and status he could. He taught him everything he needed to know to walk that path forward with pride, and even designed his uniform so that he would always be wrapped in his embrace. Kishiar gave him the name Yudrain because eternity is how long he would love him. And when he had nothing else to give he gave his life because Yuder would be safer as Emperor Katchian's ally. I'm certain he even pulled the sword into his own chest.
