Turning Chapter 1060

Chapter 1060

Without a word, Yuder handed the journal to Enon. Opening the first page, Enon stared at it blankly for a long time.

Eventually, he let out a deep sigh under his slowly furrowed brows, closed the cover, and turned his head towards Yuder. Yuder met his gaze, which held an unfathomable meaning, without avoiding it.

"...If it weren't for you, I wouldn't have thought of coming this far. Even if I had come alone, I definitely couldn't have found this."

Luma's hidden research materials, including his journal, couldn't be found by mere chance. It was possible to come this far because of many things, including the experience of finding the secret laboratory and journal of the First Duke Tain in the West. However, Yuder didn't think it was solely his own strength.

Being able to come here and finding the hidden research materials were all decisively thanks to Enon's help. If he hadn't made the decision to leave the capital, and if he hadn't tried to move forward on a different path without giving up, no matter how hard Yuder tried, he wouldn't have been able to see this.

Yuder was about to say that, but as if knowing what he was going to say, Enon frowned and shook his head. He was smiling faintly with a very complicated expression.

"Actually, I had never thought that Luma would have left any message for me before coming here. I just thought I should find and inform you of what was necessary among the things Luma left behind. But... Luma believed that the day would come when I would come here and seek help, and left this. He even left a strange message saying he was worried about me."

"..."

Enon laughed. After closing his eyes once and opening them again, his gaze became clear as if he had lightly shaken off all the previous complexity.

"Anyway... There's one thing I know for sure after seeing this."

"What?"

"Luma must have left this when he left Gyllandr Hill and returned. And there's a 'conviction' in this message that wasn't there before. What do you think that means?"

A conviction that wasn't there before.

Until he left Gyllandr Hill, the Great Mage Luma considered his research on turning back time a failure and wasn't completely convinced that the moment the guardian needed to fulfill his role would really come, even as he created the guardian.

However, when he returned and wrote the message, he thought that even his failed research might become necessary information for Enon in the future, so he left it behind and preserved it.

In between, as Kishiar had said earlier, wasn't it perhaps a conviction in the existence of someone in the future who would aim for the same purpose and path as Luma?

"The Commander's words aren't wrong. It seems Luma hoped that when someone like you appeared, I would protect and help you as a guardian. Did something happen during his absence that made him convinced that such a thing might occur?"

"Could there be... such a part in the journal?"

"Look carefully. There might be an additional part left."

Enon shrugged and handed the journal back to Yuder.

"As I said earlier, I'll classify and search for the materials. You read it as originally decided."

"Speaking of which, can I help too?"

Kishiar naturally intervened and asked. Enon narrowed his eyes and asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I'm talking about classifying the materials. I've been watching, and in the end, finding and looking at them in Luma's way is about circulating and changing the flow of magic power in a certain way, right? I don't have the Eye of Magic like Yuder, but I think I can do that part if I learn it."

"No, if it was simple enough to be done with just one lesson, I would have asked long ago. I didn't do it on purpose. Besides, I heard you can use magic, but you're not in a state to use it often, right?"

Even at Enon's rebuke, Kishiar just smiled calmly.

"I never thought that. It's as the pharmacist says. But isn't moving magic power different from using magic? And if the complexity of the method itself is the problem, I don't think it will be a big issue. I only saw it over your shoulder, but from what I understand, roughly...?"

Instead of speaking, Kishiar raised his hand in the air and drew a trajectory. It was a movement similar yet different from when mages drew formations. Yuder couldn't tell what he was doing, but Enon, who saw it, was greatly shocked.

"...What? How did you... Is there any information related to Luma's magic left in the Imperial Palace?"

"No. I just said I saw what the pharmacist did from behind."

"That's impossible. How can you understand that just by seeing it? Say something that makes sense."

"I may not like using magic, but I'm not ignorant of it. If I concentrate, I can understand to some extent in my own way. After all, I also wield a sword and possess the power of an Awakener."

Only then did Enon seem to believe Kishiar's words to some extent. Glaring at the man with the most absurd expression in the world, Enon let out a groan that welled up from within.

"You're crazy."

Enon pondered for a moment and called Kishiar. He seemed to have really made up his mind to teach him how to understand the materials in Luma's way.

"First of all, let me tell you in advance. Even if you succeed, reading what's written there is another problem. Ancient language is the basis, but will it be possible to read it quickly while maintaining the flow of magic power?"

"I don't know how fast you want it to be, but if it doesn't require an accurate translation, I can comprehend books written in ancient language at a speed not much different from other books."

"How fast do you read other books?"

"About the time it takes for dinner would be enough to thoroughly read all 12 volumes of the Imperial Code."

"...I'll explain only once, so try it if you want. Keep in mind that if you fail, your magic power might be drained, and you could die."

"I'll keep that in mind."

With a chuckle, Kishiar disappeared toward the tree with Enon. After Enon picked up a piece of wood, explained using gestures, and handed it over, Kishiar examined something for a moment and extracted a thread-like golden magic power from his fingertips. Yuder tensed up, ready to intervene immediately if he was in danger, but there was no need for him to step in.

The piece of wood wrapped in Kishiar's magic power remained intact without any incident. The fact that he had succeeded could be immediately known from Enon's curse as he watched.

"Damn it, are you even human?!"

"I'm perfectly human. Foolish and weak beyond measure, I would have died long ago if it weren't for someone's sacrifice."

Saying that, Kishiar opened his eyes again. Looking at Yuder, who was tense, the man winked playfully, conveying the intention not to take his words seriously.

"Anyway, it seems I succeeded, so I can finally be of more help. If possible, I wanted to lightly grasp the list of everything here before returning, so I'm glad I succeeded."

The serious atmosphere from thinking about the Great Mage Luma's intentions completely disappeared. Enon cursed like a machine gun at this incredible situation, but he didn't stop Kishiar from helping with the task of examining the materials.

'Then I too...'

Yuder couldn't help them because he couldn't read ancient language, but he could still read Luma's journal, which was readable with just insight. He sat down and opened Luma's journal again.

In such an atmosphere where each person was engrossed, the dawn passed, and the day brightened.

After the sun rose high in the sky, Yuder came out of Gyllandr Hill with Kishiar. Kishiar, who lightly blew out a warm breath toward the air, opened his mouth with a smile.

"It's a bit chilly, but the weather is nice."

"You barely slept, are you alright?"

"Of course. I was worried you might be tired... Wouldn't it be okay to rest a bit more before leaving?"

"I'm fine too. If I need more sleep, I can sleep after returning to the Cavalry."

"Still, riding a horse in a tired state..."

"Stop nagging and go if you're going to go!"

Enon, who followed a little later, shouted roughly.

"I have to keep rummaging through the materials after returning!"

"Don't overdo it and take breaks while doing it."

When Yuder quietly replied, Enon snorted.

"Hah, are you in a position to say that to me?"

"The Commander said he grasped and memorized the list and overall contents of the materials. Since we can now help with the classification work, there's no need to rush."

"Ha, seriously, I wonder how such a person even exists."

It was meant to say there was no need to overdo it, but Enon's eyes changed as if it was utterly absurd.

That was understandable because Kishiar had really succeeded in putting the entire materials hidden in Luma's laboratory into his head at a tremendous speed from dawn to morning. He said it would take time to do a detailed analysis and classification since it was closer to just memorizing it unconditionally rather than comprehending the contents, but it was still an unbelievable feat.

It felt like a glimpse into the source of the ability that usually made him work as if he needed three bodies.

Kishiar, who had done something so unbelievable that even Enon, who wasn't really human, was dumbfounded, smiled as if it was nothing and greeted Enon with a humble face.

"Then, I'll leave the rest to you. I would have liked to stay longer, but I have my own matters to attend to on this side. Let's keep in touch if anything happens."

"Please take care of that guy and don't let him get hurt. Don't make him work too much."

"Haha. Of course. And I'll have a messenger put a lemon inside His Majesty the First Emperor's statue from time to time, so come anytime if you need it."

"..."

Enon didn't say he didn't need it. Instead, he only said one thing to Yuder with a sullen face.

"Hey. Anyway, it's a vacation, so go and rest. Don't worry about this side."

"I haven't finished reading Luma's journal yet."

"You said you're going to Peletta? You can read it on the way."

After saying that, he waved his hand once indifferently and turned around without hesitation, entering the house. Yuder stared at the scenery of Gyllandr Hill where he had disappeared for a moment, then turned his back.

"...Let's go."

"Yeah. Shall we go side by side this time?"

Kishiar smiled and held Yuder's hand. Yuder looked down at that hand for a moment but didn't shake it off.

I can only imagine how boring it would be trying to find new things to keep you busy with that kind of reading speed. That would be one more level of pain on both brothers in their respective confinments; constantly running out of reading material. I know work would keep them busy some of the time, but we know that Kishiar was often bed bound for various reasons, and despite being both the emperor and having a broken vessel Keilusa maintained a set reading time every day. If he reads anywhere close to Kishiar's speed, he'd have this issue too when finding books for pleasure.
