When Kishiar said it like that, it felt like a completely different matter even though it was the same event.
'Because for me, the fact that it was something I couldn't remember before and the content of Kishiar's words itself felt the most important.'
"Shall we move on to the next one?"
They continued to organize the events that occurred before and after the dreams Yuder had been having.
The dream he had on the day he suspected the pain in the spots on his hand caused by the Red Stone might be a sign of the second gender manifesting.
The dream he had while sleeping after the second gender manifestation occurred.
The dream he had after receiving information about the power of the Red Stone and discussing the upcoming Western mission with Thais Yulman.
The dream he had after visiting the place the Western Mage Union, led by Micalin, claimed to be the Magic Spring.
The dream he had while bedridden with severe injuries from fighting Pethuamet...
Since he already knew the content of the dreams, he briefly skipped over them and focused on recalling the situation leading up to those dreams and what happened afterward, making his head throb.
After organizing everything he could remember up to the most recent one in the South, he felt like he had finished a tremendous task even though they had only talked.
'I had quite a lot of dreams, come to think of it.'
He didn't suddenly realize some tremendous fact he didn't know before just by talking about it. However, at least from another person's perspective, he was able to find parts he didn't know about or some tendencies.
Kishiar was an especially good partner in that regard.
"Overall, there were many times when you dreamed in advance of the situation you had already experienced in the previous game before something actually happened. The content that appeared in the dreams was what you thought you remembered but was actually uncertain..."
"Yes."
"It seems that the frequency of having dreams was high when you were injured or had health problems, or when there was a big change in your emotions. And that might have been when a person's inner self... in other words, the 'soul' was shaken, to borrow the pharmacist's expression."
"That makes sense."
It seemed like even if Enon was really here, he would have said the same thing. As far as Yuder remembered, the two of them hadn't talked much, but that extraordinarily smart man seemed to have already grasped Enon's knowledge better than Yuder.
"Considering that the beginning of the dreams was after you were injured by the Red Stone, it could be said that all of that happened at the moment when the power of that stone existed together in your body."
The man, who had been muttering and lost in thought, quietly looked up at Yuder's face. Yuder couldn't guess how many thoughts were quickly passing through the red eyes sunken in darkness.
After a while, the man whispered in a low voice.
"Honestly, if I were to say the first thought that comes to mind now, it seems to come back to the Red Stone in the end."
"..."
Yuder looked at his hand resting on the man's chest. On the skin exposed without gloves, there were dark red stains spreading like branches along the blood vessels.
The identity of those dark red stains was none other than the pure power remaining in the Red Stone itself.
When it first appeared on Yuder's body, it was in the form of spots, but later it seeped into the blood vessels and took on its current appearance.
On the day of hail he faced in the South, after making the 'choice', those stains no longer existed only on his arms as before but now also on his abdomen. Because of that, which was similarly spread around the navel, although not visible now as he was lying on top of Kishiar, it had been quite a while since he had taken off his top outside.
The current stains slightly expanded and contracted in range with each breath Yuder took, endlessly repeating the process. It was definitely not a good look to show to someone, as it was perfect for looking cursed.
Yuder knew that when he used his ability, it would spread straight through his whole body, and when he didn't use it, it would return to about the current level. With the level of use in daily life, it didn't go beyond the shoulders, but if he used a lot of power at once, it would quickly spread to his jaw and entire body.
However, unlike before, he didn't care about that fact so much now. The reason was simple. There was no pain.
'In the past, when the stains spread, even a very slight increase was very painful... but now it spreads and shrinks back in an instant without pain, so there's no reason to receive healing with divine power anymore.'
In Yuder's memory, the last time he felt pain when the stains spread was on the day of hail. In other words, it meant the day he made the 'choice'.
Until then, whenever the stains spread, a subtle burning pain-like sensation was felt in the area where it spread. Through that, Yuder could roughly guess where the stains had spread to in his body. Through the extension of that sensation, on the day of hail, in the pain of drawing out his exhausted power to the limit, Yuder instinctively felt the flame-like sensation running through his body trying to cross over to his abdomen, where it had never spread before.
Below the abdomen was the mana hole imbued with the power of an awakener. What would happen if the stains bearing the power of the Red Stone invaded there?
He couldn't know anything, but the moment to ponder for the choice was infinitely short.
Since he wouldn't be able to find the answer even if he had enough time anyway, Yuder let it cross the limit.
And as a result of that choice, at the final moment, he was able to use the power again that he thought he couldn't draw out anymore.
Even now, whenever Enon saw Yuder's abdomen, he would click his tongue and curse a lot, but even he agreed with the fact that Yuder's current physical condition had rather improved.
'It's only natural since it's become easier to use power than before and recovery is faster.'
Thanks to that, Kishiar, who was the quickest to notice and worry that Yuder had made such a choice at that time, hadn't said anything special yet.
The power of the Red Stone, which had given Yuder the strength to cross the limit several times at difficult moments according to his will.
Compared to the results obtained through that power, the moving stains left on his body were nothing.
And Kishiar now seemed to think that the power of that stone might have been involved in the moments when Yuder filled the holes left in his soul through the dreams he had.
"We can't give a definite answer since we still don't know much about the Red Stone... but that's what I think now. That powerful, omnipotent, and mysterious power that can become anything is now safely settled within you, but it wasn't in the previous game."
Yes. That power had shattered Kishiar back then. The man didn't mention it in detail for Yuder's sake. When Yuder silently nodded, he continued.
"But for the one who couldn't endure that power and was shattered in the previous game, couldn't some fragments of that power remain to some extent? Just like when playing a water fight with two teams, the one hit by a water balloon with color added to it continues to have that water on them."
Expressing the tragedy of his previous life's self being shattered and facing death as a mere water fight that children play, he almost let out an absurd laugh in the middle of listening well.
"...That's a bit of a childish analogy."
"I thought an appropriate and cute analogy would be better than a serious one?"
Kishiar blinked, pretending to be cute. Even though anyone could clearly see that it was pretending to be cute, the fact that it still looked good meant that Yuder Aile's head had already gone crazy for him a long time ago.
"Yes... well, let's say that's the case. So, what do you mean by what was done with the remaining water?"
"I think there's a possibility that it had some influence, whether the person intended it or not. Based on what you've experienced so far, that power seems to strongly respond to will and can move not only ability but also the body, soul, and even unconscious memories."
"..."
Does that mean that the white gloves currently existing in the crack also have some of the Red Stone's power like Yuder does, and he sees it as possible for him to move it? His head became dizzy.
"Well, this is just a guess. We still don't know yet."
Kishiar, who answered brightly, sat up while holding Yuder's back.
"Anyway, what I want to say is this. If you want to see the last memory of that day that doesn't come to mind as you wish, how about creating an environment where you can activate that power as much as possible based on experience?"
"By activating it as much as possible based on experience... do you mean using my ability here?"
He said it seriously, but Kishiar burst into laughter.
"That might work too, but... I was thinking, how about activating the 'imprint' and falling asleep here as it is?"

2024-06-26 10:42:09 +0000 UTCInteresting, I didn’t think of the stone having an effect on the dreams.. I just assumed that pieces of his memory had been taken when Kishiar cut their imprint or he purposely erased them and that the more they strengthened it the more the imprint so the more those pieces would come back

2024-06-25 17:18:47 +0000 UTCI know they're saying the red veins makes him look curse, and I get that most people in that world would agree, but honestly I just think it makes Yuder look badass. I love that kind of thing.
