Turning Chapter 1084

Chapter 1084

What Kishiar had heard was not wrong. Yuder felt a cold sensation running down his spine and turned his head. Kishiar was smiling calmly without any agitation.

"What were the reasons for the support requests?"

"The situation was urgent, so we couldn't hear the detailed explanations, but for now, all the request flames were red."

"It's highly likely that the crack that appeared in Peletta also appeared in those places."

"We also judged so."

Kishiar, who nodded, briefly explained to Yuder as if telling him to listen.

"You heard earlier that Peletta has a contract to carry out monster extermination on behalf of various northern territories."

"Yes."

"Now, going beyond that, we are also lending our strength to other tasks that require manpower to territories that pay more money. To make that process more convenient and faster, I had made it so that the type of request could be immediately identified by making the color of the magic tool flame signal, which was originally used when an urgent request was needed, different."

When enemies invade or a major disaster occurs, adjacent regions often send signals to each other by raising flames made with magic tools. Kishiar utilized that facility to identify the types of requests sent to Peletta from surrounding areas and quickly send support at the appropriate level. Since any decent territory has it, there was no need to spend more on installing facilities, and since there was no need to separately teach how to use it other than the agreed content according to the flame color, it was a truly cost-effective idea.

After creating that system, Peletta began to earn even more money. Although the expenditure increased a bit, there were that many more lords who found it more convenient to entrust all kinds of bothersome tasks to others.

"Then the meaning of the red flame is..."

"Monster occurrence. Or an urgent situation related to monsters equivalent to that."

Enk answered without hesitation.

"Right after we noticed the strange crack in Peletta and sent the knights, we received as many as 5 red flame signals almost simultaneously."

Come to think of it, even though Yuder was not an insider of Peletta, Enk honestly shared information and the situation with him without any hesitation. Her attitude was no different from when she was reporting to Kishiar.

"Madam Enk!"

At that moment, a soldier hurriedly ran over. Seeing the lord and Yuder standing in front of the housekeeper, he was startled, stopped, raised his hand, and saluted.

"My lord, you were here too!"

"You don't need to greet, just report first. What else happened?"

"Ah, yes. We just received 4 more signals from nearby. The colors of the flames were all..."

"Red, I suppose."

"Yes. They said they were all red!"

The soldier nodded his head with a slightly surprised face. It was as if he was thinking that the lord had finally acquired the ability to prophesy.

Whether Kishiar knew or not that a single soldier was looking up to him like a god, he turned his body and gave an order to Enk.

"Enk. Where is Captain Welliven now?"

"As soon as Welliven received the report that a crack had occurred in Peletta, he sent Nathan and said he would head to the Peletta Knights' headquarters. So he should be there now."

"Send someone to him and tell him. Divide and dispatch the knights according to the size and population of the areas where signals have come so far, but be sure to leave spare personnel considering that more signals may come in the future."

"Yes. Understood."

"And I will go down to the town. I think I need to see firsthand what state the crack is in."

"Is Baron Aile going with you? Shall I prepare a carriage?"

Kishiar, who had been speaking without hesitation, suddenly stopped for a moment and glanced at Yuder. Yuder realized that he was concerned about his condition.

There was still some lingering effect from mixing bodies with him on the sofa, but that was it. Although it wasn't a good dream, his condition itself wasn't much different from usual since he had slept and woken up.

Moreover, wasn't this an unprecedented situation where anomalous cracks had spread widely not only to Peletta but also to other areas? Even if it wasn't this situation, even if his arms and legs were being cut off and blood was gushing out, he would have gone directly.

Yuder widened his eyes to convey that meaning.

"Don't even dream of leaving me behind. Even if you try to persuade me with something like candy this time, it won't work."

"...Alright."

As if recalling the day he left Yuder behind in the West by giving him three candies, a faint smile rose on Kishiar's lips. That human smile that seemed to have leaked out through the cracks between the lord's face, which had been surrounded by a solid wall until now, hotly shook Yuder's heart.

Kishiar opened his mouth and ordered Enk, who was waiting for an answer.

"Yuder is coming with me. However, we don't need a carriage. Just bring me two cloaks since it's cold."

"Understood."

Kishiar personally placed the cloak Enk brought on Yuder's shoulders and tied it tightly. That cloak was worn by everyone in Peletta, and although it was heavy like a stone deliberately carried on the back during training, it was warm with good cold protection.

"Shall we go?"

"Yes."

Since Kishiar declared that he would go using his own ability, Yuder took his outstretched hand. As soon as he did, his body was pushed away from the ground and shot forward with a thud. It was such a tremendous speed that he thought his neck might have been broken if he hadn't been prepared in advance. Of course, Yuder didn't suffer the slightest impact.

Kishiar leaped over a tremendous distance in an instant, kicking the ground once and jumping again like someone doing a long jump. The skill of moving Yuder's body simultaneously while holding his hand and controlling it so that no impact was felt every time he stepped on the ground was so amazing that it was doubtful if it was magic.

'He's doing this with just the pushing and pulling force and the inhuman physical abilities unique to a swordmaster.'

It looked similar to Yuder's method of stepping on the wind and running, but it was completely different. It seemed like he had only jumped a few times, but the destination quickly approached in an instant. It was so fast that he even had the illusion that the town was pulling them in.

Kishiar stopped in the middle of the darkened town. As if evacuation had been ordered as soon as the situation occurred, all the surrounding buildings were empty and no human presence was felt. Those wearing Peletta Knights' uniforms were guarding the area with lines drawn between the buildings.

Kishiar strode toward them, revealing his presence.

"Where is Nathan?"

"My lord!"

"Sir Zuckerman is inside."

The knights pointed inside with a relieved yet tense face.

"After entrusting us with the evacuation and space isolation, he went in to monitor the area around the crack. He told us to give a signal if an abnormal situation occurred and to take the townspeople and run further away, but..."

"...There's no need for that. The isolation can be lifted now."

From behind the knight who was eagerly continuing his words, Nathan Zuckerman's voice suddenly came from the darkness.

"Sir Zuckerman? Why so soon..."

Nathan Zuckerman, who revealed himself in the light, had an expressionless face as usual and had no injuries. Spotting Kishiar and Yuder among the gathered people, he approached and greeted them with discipline.

"You've come."

"You said the isolation can be lifted. What do you mean? Has the crack disappeared?"

Nathan affirmed Kishiar's question.

"Yes. The crack disappeared before you arrived, my lord. No monsters came out, and it doesn't seem like it will occur again right away, so I judged that the emergency situation could be lifted."

"My goodness. That's really fortunate! I was worried about what would happen if something occurred like this..."

A knight with a youthful impression, who seemed to have arrived not long ago, shouted with a bright face. Kishiar, who was blinking, let out a small sigh and turned to Yuder.

"For now, it's fortunate that it disappeared quickly. Still, shall we go and take a look around?"

"Yes."

He was going to do that even without saying it. They crossed the line drawn between the buildings and headed to the place where the crack was said to have occurred with Nathan Zuckerman. In the air between the well used by the townspeople and the square, there was nothing to be seen, only trees standing as usual.

"Here. It was exactly in this spot."

"How big was it?"

"It was about the size of one of my arms."

The first discoverer was a nearby resident who had urgently come to fetch water when it ran out in the middle of the night. Since lanterns were hung on trees around the well to make it easy to grasp the surroundings even in the middle of the night, it seemed that the crack could be easily spotted.

"Do you feel anything?"

Kishiar asked Yuder, who was circling around the place where the crack was said to have occurred. Yuder slowly shook his head.

"Not now."

"Same here."

While they were doing that, several knights hurriedly came down from the castle and looked for Kishiar.

"My lord! All the areas that sent emergency signals have raised blue flames!"

A blue flame meant that the situation had 'normalized'. In other words, it seemed that the anomalous cracks that had occurred in other areas had disappeared simultaneously with the disappearance of the anomalous crack in Peletta.

"I don't know what all this commotion is about at this dawn."

Captain Welliven, who joined them a little later, sighed while shaking his head. There were clear signs of him having woken up in a hurry on his face. Kishiar stared at the sight of Peletta residents returning while murmuring after hearing the news that the emergency had been lifted, and then opened his mouth.

"For now, let's keep someone on watch here in shifts, and continue the conversation at the castle."

Did Yuder and Kishiar accidentally cause the cracks? Hmm 🧐

Liandrin Kamiya

I was thinking something simpler... After the dream Yuder's soul was trapped in the darkness with the white gloves again, and Kishiar's as well this time. How did he escape the darkness before? Through the cracks that the monsters made. Since there's no monster-made cracks this time, how'd they get out? My guess is they either made them subconsciously or white gloves did it for them to escape. Once they were out, since there were no monsters prying them open, they just closed naturally.

Dani

I can’t think of anything else that would fit. I think because of their link to the past Kishiar in the rift, that any time they use their bond and attempt to try to find the missing links, the stones power activates to make that happen and like you said, creates some sort of imbalance because they are linking to something that is not part of their world and the amount of power needed for that I’m sure is insane even though they aren’t aware of it

Jesse Gibson

I wonder if this is another situation where the use of power is the cause of the imbalance...should be interesting to see.
