The Mist Vol 1 Chapter 50

Vol 1 Chapter 50

As Kran looked at Yu-wan's sword energy with surprised eyes, Yu-wan shrugged.

"Same to you."

"...Did you have to say that!"

As Kran growled, Kapros chanted his spell simultaneously.

"With my light and burning lightning, turn even the soul into a handful of ashes!"

He generated dozens of lightning bolts in the air. Now, even when a large amount of magical power drained at once, he didn't stagger ungracefully, perhaps thanks to his preparation. As it became as bright as if the sun had risen above their heads, Kran's eyes widened like a surprised rabbit's as he expressed his admiration.

"Wow."

Taking advantage of the Blood Sollers' momentary hesitation, Kapros swiftly brought down the hand he had raised.

"Lightning Bolt!"

Boom boom boom boom boom!

With explosion sounds rivaling Chain Lightning, the liquid forming the Blood Sollers' bodies began to burst and splatter against the Magic Shield like rain.

After a while, everything became quiet. The amount of red liquid pooled on the floor had noticeably decreased from before. Watching them struggle to reform their shapes, Kapros removed the Magic Shield.

"Now!"

At that signal, Kran and Yu-wan rushed forward. Yu-wan raised his sword and cast the skill Kapros had seen him use when fighting the boss.

"Storm Thrust!"

As Yu-wan spun on one foot, the blue lights he unleashed spread like a storm towards the Blood Sollers that were just about to stand up. However, the Blood Sollers' bodies, as easily as they could be dismantled, also possessed terrifying offensive power. The red liquids that had been pooling slowly extended, sharpening their ends, and rushed towards Yu-wan and Kran.

"Oh no!"

Fortunately, they both managed to dodge, but blood soon seeped from their grazed skin.

"Ah..."

Realizing the effectiveness of this attack, the Blood Sollers began to dismantle themselves and repeat the same attack. Although the two skilled swordsmen blocked the attacks with their sword energy, they couldn't avoid the gradually increasing wounds. Seeing an attack finally finding a gap and flying towards him, Kapros attempted a magic he had avoided using due to its difficulty.

"Float your body like a feather towards the blue sky. Fly!"

As he cast Fly, a spell he had learned but never used due to the risk of falling if his concentration broke, his body suddenly rose upward.

"Lightning Bolt!"

Taking advantage of the gained time, he shouted Lightning Bolt once more. His mind wavered momentarily, causing his body to sway precariously in the air, but the properly generated Lightning Bolt fell once again towards the liquids.

Crackle!

"Shaaaa!"

With a scream from an unknown source, the attack faltered for a moment. Kapros immediately stopped the difficult flight, descended to the ground, and grabbed the arms of the other two.

"Run now!"

The two looked at the Blood Sollers that were writhing and rising again, then began to run, almost lifting the slower Kapros. No matter what they did, these were enemies they could block but not eliminate with their current skills.

'This... Did we enter too recklessly?'

Even Kapros had such thoughts as they continued to pass through doors, fight, flee and pass through again, and fight repeatedly. They were so frantic that at some point, he couldn't even think of long incantations and only used short ones. When they finally escaped, all three were covered in fishy liquid and blood, looking like complete beggars.

Still, an end finally appeared. When they passed through the last door as if being chased, with a whooshing sound, suddenly a much wider space than before revealed itself. As soon as they realized no monsters were in sight, they all collapsed and gasped for breath.

"Huff... huff..."

"This place... I've never been here either. Where is this?"

Kran spoke in a hoarse voice as he looked around.

Kapros got up and slowly approached the center of this hall-like place. There was something that looked like a strange altar. As he reached near the altar, accompanied by Yu-wan and Kran who had drawn their swords in preparation for any monsters that might appear, Kapros suddenly felt the brooch attached to his clothes under his hood vibrating.

'The brooch is vibrating?'

He hurriedly took out the brooch. Yu-wan and Kran's eyes focused on it, but there was no time to explain.

"This is..."

The red jewel of the brooch was emitting a strange light. It gradually intensified to the point of hurting the eyes, and finally, as Kapros reached the steps in front of the altar holding what had become a red ball of light in his hand, the light reached its peak intensity. As Kapros slowly extended his hand and tried to climb the steps, Kran hurriedly stopped him.

"Are you entranced? What's wrong?"

"It's that brooch quest."

Before Kapros could answer, Yu-wan's voice was heard first. He seemed to remember despite mentioning it casually.

"That's right. The quest I received from the mage's house before. Seeing this brooch suddenly glowing here, it seems to be related somehow."

Hearing this, Kran released Kapros's arm with interested eyes, no longer trying to stop him. Kapros slowly climbed the steps. The light had grown so large that it now covered both his hands, making them invisible.

'There must be some connection.'

Kapros looked at the stone that seemed like both a table and an altar at the top of the steps, approached it, and slowly placed his hand holding the brooch on top of it. He just wanted to try that for now.

'If nothing happens... well, can't be helped.'

Whoosh!

Fortunately, his choice seemed to be correct, as an enormous light burst forth, and everything before his eyes flashed white.

"Whoa!"

He thought he heard Kran's shout, but it was soon drowned out by the light.

When Kapros regained his senses, he found himself flying at an incredible altitude, looking down at a vast continent without a physical body.

'What is this?'

At first, he was surprised, but soon realizing he was flying like a camera's viewpoint, he quietly surrendered himself to the flow. As he became somewhat accustomed to the flying situation, he couldn't help but gasp in admiration at the very wide and green continent he saw looking down through the clouds.

There were forests, flowing rivers, massive cliffs, and visible cities. Strangely, he didn't feel any fear of falling at all. If he could rise this high with Fly, it would be incredibly exciting.
