[Turning] 2023 QNA (2)

[Turning] 2023 QNA (2)

Q: I've been secretly waiting - will Ejain appear again? Will we ever see a Nelarn visit episode? I love Ejain and Kishiar's subtle jealousy so much, I'm waiting for the day they meet again!

A: Yes. The prince is very busy with personal matters right now, but Ejain would be happy to know you're waiting.

Q: In chapter 457, Kishiar filled Yuder's room with flowers. At the time, Yuder kept them all in vases and cups without throwing any away. It's been quite a while since he left the dormitory for the 2nd recruitment. Are Kishiar's gift flowers still in Yuder's room? Have they wilted? Even if they all wilt, would Yuder keep them preserved rather than throw them away?

A: They're still there. Some were left well-dried as they slowly withered, and the rest are being preserved in various other ways. I think there may be a day later when we show how.

Q: Related to the above question, does Kishiar know that Yuder is preciously keeping all the flowers he gave, as well as the paper flower folded from candy wrappers in the West? If he found out, how would Kishiar feel?

A: He knows or guesses, but I'll refrain from commenting further as it could be a bit of a spoiler.

Q: When Yuder first joined, he had almost no belongings in his room so he could leave without a trace anytime. But now his room feels a bit cramped with Yuder's things even after organizing (stuffing all the jewelry and clothes Kishiar excitedly gifted into the closet). Yuder thinks organizing is the only way to survive as he plans to stay in the dorm past the deadline, but does Kishiar guess the state of Yuder's room?

A: While it seems like an enormous amount of belongings to Yuder, in fact by Kishiar's standards it's still quite sparse. The same is true compared to other members. This is because he still has almost no personal belongings besides what he brought when joining, other than gifts from others or issued items. As for whether Kishiar guesses... I'll refrain from commenting.

Q: If Kishiar and Yuder were to live together, what would the interior be like? Given their personalities and styles, it seems Kishiar would lead the interior design while reflecting Yuder's opinions. I'm curious what kind of feel the wallpaper, flooring, and furniture would have! Ah, just imagining it makes me happy. Kishiar and Yuder are the type who would have no complaints as long as they can be safely together, even with just one straw bed.

A: As you said, they're people who wouldn't mind as long as they can be together anywhere, but I think Kishiar would take the lead in carefully creating an interior where both he and Yuder can be comfortable. With his refined taste, he'd choose furniture materials that are all sturdy and good enough to withstand a Swordmaster's strength without being excessively luxurious, and the overall atmosphere would likely be neat but elegant and cozy.

By modern standards, it might feel like a modern classic farmhouse.

And of course, there would have to be a large, sturdy training ground, right?

Q: When Kishiar infiltrated the illegal fighting ring with Yuder in this life, he was able to call Yuder "Yudrain". At that time, Kishiar seemed happy and pleased when using the "you" address and calling him Yudrain, but since he's such a complex and deep thinker, I don't think that's all there was to it. When Yuder said he could call him Yudrain, when he called him that and got a response, and seeing Yuder not minding, what was Kishiar feeling?

A: As you said, that wasn't all there was to it, but Kishiar does honestly show most of what he feels in front of Yuder. The most important thing is that Yuder is beside him.

Q: If Kishiar and Yuder were to have a wedding ceremony, would they both wear white formal wear? Or would one wear black and one white? (Imagining it, I feel like Kishiar could pull off a wedding dress effortlessly...)

A: I'll refrain from commenting, but I also think Kishiar's ability to pull off a wedding dress would be amazing.

Q: In the latest chapter (927), I cried along with Yuder when he learned the truth and shed tears, but in the midst of that, the anecdote about the Cavalry members suddenly shoving onions in his face to try to make him cry was so funny. I laughed while crying. Could we know about the situation that led to the Cavalry suddenly trying to make Yuder cry?

A: I'm glad you laughed at that short part. The Cavalry members generally make a lot of strange bets (Enon, who often sees this in passing, thinks this place is getting filled with more and more crazy people), and the tougher the training, the more outlandish and strange bets they make to forget the pain.

In this case, it started when one of the members who was crying streams of tears from the tough training grumbled "If we collected all the tears we've shed so far, it would fill about ten barrels of beer", and someone else retorted "Yeah, but Yuder's wouldn't be in there".

The question of whether Yuder Aile, who maintains an expressionless face even during the toughest training, could actually shed tears soon turned into a bet. It resulted in the Eldore siblings stealing freshly cut onions from the kitchen that the Gail brothers had prepared and shoving them in Yuder's face. Of course, as you know, Yuder didn't cry, and the bet ended with the victory of the "Yuder has no tear ducts" faction. I'll leave it to your imagination who bet on what.

Q: I want to see Yuder play the balance game!

Example questions:

5 Kishiars vs 5-year-old Kishiar

Drawing pictures vs Cooking

Being thoroughly washed by Nathan vs Roughly scrubbing powerless Enon

Kishiar saying sexy things in a gentle voice vs saying gentle things in a sexy voice

Never training again vs Never seeing Kishiar again

Eating very spicy food vs Eating lemons, etc...

A: Yuder would try not to answer, but if he had to answer reluctantly, he might say something like this:

As long as there's nothing wrong with the Commander's body, either is fine / I'd rather cook / Of course washing Enon would be much easier / He'd say the same thing either way... what's the difference? / I've already chosen the latter option once. I have no intention of choosing it again. / Either is fine, but if I have to eat now, I'd eat the spicy food.

Q: Do other people know that Yuder calls Enon "big brother"? (Personally, I'm very curious about Kishiar's reaction to hearing what Yuder calls Enon^^)

A: They don't know well yet. ^^

Q: In this life, the Emperor noticed that Kishiar sincerely loves Yuder, but I wonder if he noticed in the previous life as well??

A: No.

Q: I'm curious how Kishiar and Yuder would make songpyeon if they made it for Chuseok... And is there a major national holiday like Chuseok in the Turning world??

A: Kishiar would probably make them well, while Yuder would make roughly made songpyeon that just need to be edible. The Orr Empire does have holidays. The harvest season mentioned in the story is one of them. The rest weren't described in detail due to circumstances.

Q: The legendary trio ㅎㅎㅎ I'm so proud to see all three of them become friends (colleagues) safely without losing their lives to accidents or political strife in this life. Could we know what their childhoods were like!? I heard Yuder's nickname was "muddy puppy", I'm curious what he was like ㅠㅠ

A: Gakane was a famous pretty boy in the neighborhood who dreamed of becoming a knight. He was very popular, but just as many people disliked him, saying he was acting arrogant for looking somewhat handsome despite being a fallen noble living no differently from commoners. From his early teens, he entered a nearby knighthood and did work similar to a squire, where the situation was similar. Although he was a descendant of the famous general who saved the South, he didn't have much talent with the sword, and being poor and unable to pay fees, he was often treated as a burden by the knighthood's higher-ups. His social skills grew naturally as he rolled among people who disliked him and took care of many younger siblings as the eldest son.

Kanna, as mentioned in the story, was an unacknowledged child born when a noble took advantage of a maid, but she grew up normally and happily while her mother was alive. Her mother rented a house in a corner of the 7th Wall of the capital with money received from Count Gallon and raised her daughter while earning money doing sewing work. She was a person with good survival skills and a good relationship with her daughter. I think Kanna during that time was a surprisingly perceptive and friendly child who would run errands and do shopping well for those around her instead of her mother.

Even after her mother died and she entered Count Gallon's household and suffered being treated as a maid, although her personality became a bit dark and timid, she still retained her characteristic perceptiveness, so she rarely received direct mistreatment. If the Count hadn't tried to sell Kanna off in a political marriage, she might not have desperately looked for a way to escape and instead would have somehow found a new place to work well.

The reason Yuder's nickname was "muddy puppy" was because he inevitably returned covered in dirt almost every day after rolling around in the mountains all day, climbing trees and crawling on the ground. He must have played very well by himself even without anyone to play with. But like a young child, he must have sometimes been curious about the outside world too?

Q: I'm curious about the pure physical strength ranking of the Turning characters, excluding their abilities.

A: Physical strength can be a bit complicated depending on the situation, but if we consider only raw strength (let's think of it as something like arm wrestling) excluding all abilities, the Swordmasters who are naturally gifted in physical aspects and have trained for a long time are basically superior. Kishiar and Nathan Zuckerman would be 1st and 2nd.

Within the Cavalry, Kurga and Elpkins have exceptionally strong innate strength, and Gakane, who has rolled around trying to become a knight for a long time, is also strong. Ever is also counted among those with suspiciously strong innate strength, though not as much as them. Yuder, though he looks thin, has raw strength similar to Gakane's level. However, it's not enough to easily win against naturally gifted muscle-heads like Kurga or Elpkins in a pure muscle contest.

But even without using abilities, if it comes to hand-to-hand combat, there's no one in the Cavalry who can beat Yuder. It's the same even if it becomes one against many if he has even a stick-like weapon.

Unlike their abilities, the Eldore siblings' pure strength is not that strong. Jimmy might even be stronger than the Eldore siblings in arm wrestling. (Jimmy is also quite a muscle-head, having grown up helping with trading company work.)

Kiolle's raw strength is also surprisingly not bad due to consistent training. Emperor Keilusa also has strength on par with ordinary knights who can't use Orr, due to the swordsmanship he had to learn as essential, even though he didn't like exercise.

And Crown Prince Katchian... he might even lose in arm wrestling to Kanna.

Q: I'm curious what majors/career paths the Turning friends would have had if they went to university! I wonder if they would have stuck with their majors or if some friends would have gone in different directions.

A: There was a similar question in Part 1, so I'll skip Kishiar and Yuder's part.

If it's like the modern AU I wrote this time, Gakane would probably have gone into a police or military-related department, then returned after graduation to become a sheriff. In the AU, Kanna is a librarian, but I think she would have done well as an administrative civil servant too.

Q: I'm curious about modern jobs that would seem completely unsuitable for the Turning friends. (e.g. Lush part-timer, Disco Pang Pang DJ)

A: It seems like... you've already listed them all, so I can't think of anything else. That's too powerful...!

But I do think Yuder Aile wearing a sparkly headband and waving his hand with an expressionless face while reciting amusement park ride departure lines (like "A-ma-zon-zo-ro-zon-zon-zon~") as a part-time worker would definitely not suit him... (Kishiar would probably be really good at it though)

A modern job that wouldn't suit Kishiar... thinking about it, I guess it would be an ordinary office worker.

Q: If Yuder, Gakane, and Kanna went to the same school and were in the same grade, couldn't we imagine them going to an amusement park for a school trip? Yuder would be constantly eating something, Kanna would buy animal headbands and put them on the kids, and Gakane would act as the selfie stick. It's so cute to imagine...

What do you think their amusement park ride preferences would be? Could they enter a haunted house? I'm curious how they would spend the day.

A: The scenario you described is really cute. Yuder would probably have no reaction even entering a haunted house, but Gakane and Kanna might be holding onto each of his arms. I think they would wear matching headbands as a set of three, take photos, and have a good time. After all, Kanna and Gakane are the popular ones!

Q: How would Kishiar and Yuder react if they witnessed each other receiving a confession from someone?

A: Yuder would step back slightly and wait while assessing the situation, while Kishiar would openly listen with interest, then interrupt and create a rumor even more impressive than the confession while snatching Yuder away.

Q: Recently, I've been constantly having this cute fantasy of 'One day Yuder woke up and had turned into a cat!' Our black cat...

Of course, Kishiar would first worry if there's any problem with Yuder's body, and show reactions like reading cat books... but I can't give up on the image of Kishiar adoring Yuder. I'm so curious how their day would unfold.

A: Let's think about this with a convenient background setting where an awakener with a strange ability to transform others accidentally used their power, temporarily turning Yuder into a cat. Since there would be nothing to worry about, as you said, I think Kishiar would spend time keeping Yuder close and treating him preciously until the transformation wears off. He'd also test whether communication is possible, and if so, to what extent...

Maybe we could also see the 198cm Duke of Peletta lying on the floor without dignity to match eye level with the cat?

Comments

Omg that is perfect. Kishiar would be the best Yuder cat butler 🤣

Nightwindz

Can you just imagine Kishiar introducing Yuder as he always does, but now he's a cat?! "I'm sorry that I can't stand up to greet you, but this beautiful and intelligent creature currently sleeping on my lap is my infinitely talented and unparalleled assistant, and his nap simply cannot be disturbed."

Dani

if yuder turned a cat he could officially have a play date with nipollen! :3

hien

The last question with Yuder as a cat would be hilarious. A cat with a deadpan face 🤣 Kishiar would carry and pet Yuder the entire time I feel like.
