"You said you couldn't understand that man from the previous game, but I inevitably see these things. Some are so clear... to the point of making me blush."
Pieces of a heart scattered so that Yuder couldn't understand.
However, no matter how deeply hidden, traces couldn't deceive Kishiar La Orr. Because it was something he himself had done.
Nevertheless, the reason he hadn't deliberately talked about such pieces until now was understandable without asking.
'Because I, didn't want it.'
It's really not long since Yuder accepted Kishiar from his previous life and the current Kishiar as the same being. Until then, he thought it was right to think of them separately, and it actually helped a lot in accepting reality.
How could Kishiar not know the old pain Yuder would have shown when talking about the man from his previous life?
And because of that, conversely, Yuder also read complex emotions different from when directed at him in Kishiar's voice.
'It's a bit different from before.'
Kishiar was originally infinitely strict with himself. He's a person who is generous to everyone and knows how to be joyful even in difficult situations, but there were quite a few times when Yuder felt that warmth didn't reach himself. It was a natural result of having lived a life where he had to perfectly control his power.
That coldness was consistently displayed even when he mentioned his previous self or the white glove. Every time they talked about those two, the man always had a gray wall in his calm, incomprehensible gaze that was completely different from the burning warmth directed at Yuder.
A screen so high and thick that one couldn't see beyond it. A wall that would feel infinitely cold if touched.
However, beyond that wall that even Yuder couldn't look into before, now it could be seen more honestly and clearly than ever before.
'It's probably because the aftermath of the heat hasn't completely faded yet...'
Kishiar, who had unintentionally revealed what was beyond because the wall hiding his emotions had collapsed, looked still very pained, which was understandable. However, there clearly existed some emotion that wasn't there before.
An awkward emotion as if properly facing again for the first time someone he had coldly watched from afar without even trying to approach.
Although he spoke as if looking at a very pathetic and foolish person, there clearly existed a deeper understanding than anyone else within. Yuder's heart raced at the fact that Kishiar no longer seemed to want to hide this from Yuder or himself.
'I said I only wanted Kishiar not to suffer, but I didn't think it would be easy.'
He was trying in his own way to fulfill Yuder's words that he hoped he wouldn't suffer. Even if everything couldn't succeed like magic right away, just because Yuder wished for it.
The rambling story he had just told was part of that beginning.
"..."
Yuder silently embraced Kishiar in return.
Would he laugh if Yuder said he wanted to swallow and take all his self-hatred, pain, and fear? Or would he say that would probably be difficult?
'It doesn't matter which.'
If only he could hold and embrace it in his hands.
"I remember. Just before the heat came... I think you embraced me like this too."
The man who had buried his face in Yuder's embrace quietly muttered. He seemed to suddenly recall the time when he had locked the door to prevent entry and collapsed, only to be embraced by Yuder who had finally forced his way in.
"It was the first time I felt so reassured that I thought everything would be alright for no reason."
Yuder responded while releasing his scent a little more so that the scent that was fluctuating as if searching for him could feel at ease.
"It's not without reason. Because you trusted me. Didn't everything actually end well?"
The man in his arms laughed lowly at the firm statement. His chest felt ticklish.
"Yes. That's right. Really... it is."
After saying that, Kishiar was silent for a while. When enough time had passed that Yuder thought he might have fallen asleep, he heard a faint voice.
"The dream I had then. I think I can recall it a bit more clearly now."
"You can tell me about that later if you want."
"No. I think it's better to say it now. You never know when memories might become faint, buried, disappear, or change."
Kishiar pulled his head out of Yuder's embrace. His gaze, which had looked half-dazed due to the aftermath of heat, was now much clearer.
"Thinking about it now, it was a really strange dream. To the point where I think it wasn't just a simple dream."
"What kind of dream was it for you to say that?"
In the gaze that met his, the red eyes sank very deeply. He spoke with a wavering gaze looking at Yuder.
"An execution."
"..."
"I had dreamed it before too. This was a continuation of that."
"That's..."
Kishiar had repeatedly dreamed an amazing dream after the tremendous task of awakening Emperor Keilusa and healing his vessel was completed. He couldn't remember most of the dreams he had had, but thanks to that dream becoming clearer little by little, it succeeded in remaining vividly branded in his memory.
It was someone's execution.
Flower petals flying under a clear, bright sky. A guillotine set up on a platform in the square, raised high for everyone to see well. An empty throne opposite. The joyful cheers of the crowd surrounding it.
The body dragged out like a beast in front of them was so wretched that it was hard to think it was still a living person. Along the path where two soldiers dragged that body, pitch-black sticky blood drew traces as dark as night.
The skin that would have been clean was so bruised that its original color couldn't be recognized, and the limbs had lost their original function, feeling like nothing more than lumps of flesh attached to the body. It looked so painful that just seeing it made it hard to breathe, but ironically, the atmosphere the condemned person exuded was chillingly clean like a well-sharpened blade, giving a strange feeling.
-Criminal, Yu■■■ ■■■ ■■■...! ■■■ ■■■■■■■■ ■■■ ■■■ ■■ ...!
In front of the final incomprehensible sentence echoing and ringing out, the condemned person thrown away like a rotten piece of meat didn't move at all.
Then suddenly, the blood-covered lips revealed under the unkempt hair moved faintly, curving into a smile.
It was such a small smile that no one would notice. It was impossible to tell who that cold, empty sneer was directed at.
As the sentence ended like that, new flower petals flew and cheers shook the whole world. The condemned person's body was thrown before the blade. The blade rose quickly without even giving the chance to leave last words usually given even to traitors. The public pointed fingers and laughed as if watching a very interesting and anticipated moment. Some threw rotten fruit and eggs, but they couldn't reach the high platform.
As if all that commotion had nothing to do with him, the one who placed his neck under the blade quietly stared somewhere. Kishiar realized that he was suddenly standing in front of that gaze.
A gaze that almost met but didn't, passing by.
One eye faintly revealed through the hair.
That nothingness seemed to slash and tear his flesh to shreds.
Kishiar desperately reached out towards the condemned person, not even knowing who he was. At that moment, the condemned person exhaled a weary, tired breath.
The blade fell,
In the most brilliant cheers ever.
The sky cracked and everything began to break.
Kishiar La Orr realized he was falling into endless despair...
"..."
Although it seemed quite difficult, Kishiar tried to describe the dream he had as detailed as possible. He looked at the silent Yuder, caught his breath for a moment, and then spoke in a hoarse voice.
"It was like that then too, but this time it was clearer. It's really strange. That I saw things I could never have seen if it were your dream."
If he had such a dream, it made sense that he had emitted his scent as if crying out for Yuder. If their positions were reversed and Yuder had such a dream, he would have done the same.
Yuder slowly nodded.
"...Yes. I certainly understand why you said it wasn't a simple dream."
It didn't seem like just a nightmare that freely added flesh to a dream he had before. Because everything Kishiar said he saw in the dream matched too closely with the scene of that day that Yuder remembered.
'Yet what's strangest is that he saw me from a third person's perspective, not my own. How could such a thing be possible?'
"Do you have any more guesses about this?"
"Unlike when I first had this dream, we've experienced many more things since then. So I'm guessing..."
Kishiar lowered his eyes and then met Yuder's gaze again.
"...What if this is really the memory of someone else who was there?"
Comments
I think it was Kishiar from the previous game. I guess some part of his being lingered due to the bond with Yuder. Also, it’s kind of an insane theory but, Kishiar’s ability is something like push and pull things, even invisible/ intangible ones, right? What if he, with his ability, could move time itself? or move dimensions? He was the one who was strike by the red stone at that time so what if he did that, with the help of the red stone powers? (I know he wasn’t able to control the red stone powers like Yuder, but still it could be a possibility, idk I’m just ranting).

2024-11-28 06:55:11 +0000 UTCMaybe Kishiar's soul was still free at that time. He then used his powers to save Yuder, sending him back in time and that was the forbidden act, because of which Kishiar is now trapped inside those cracks.

2024-11-21 14:37:22 +0000 UTCKishiar didn't just see the scene of Yuder's death, but the very moment he went back in time. I feel like this is going to tie into how/why Yuder regressed. Starting to suspect that Luma's not dead, he just succeeded at time magic and is moving about in the time stream; maybe Kishiar shared his pov of the execution and that's when Luma sent Yuder's soul back.
