Hey Folks,
The dev log is split into two parts: the first covers the current development status of Breeders, and the second addresses the recent Steam/Itch TOS changes.
v0.1 is ready to go!
The game has finally moved past v0.0.x, meaning that most of the core mechanics are now implemented.
Dialogue System Expansion
NPCs can now have both an initial dialogue and a followup dialogue. The systems structure allows NPC dialogues to change dynamically based on the players progress in the game.
Hidden Quest System
This system allows dialogues and environmental elements to change as the player progresses. For example, after speaking to certain NPCs, a new path might open and another NPCs dialogue might change. You won’t see active quests listed, this is intentional to encourage free discovery, taking inspiration from Soulslike games in this regard. But this may change depending on your feedback.
Pause System
You can now pause the game (Press ESC) to adjust resolution, return to the main menu, or quit. More options may be added in the future, we’ll see.

You can now enter the police station, which the Mayor has turned into her headquarters. Your first quest begins there.
New NPCs added: The office girl inside the police station, who gives you your first quest, and Mia, who currently guards the sewer entrance.

This months update focused heavily on extending internal mechanics, enabling quests and progress based dialogues, making v0.1 feel more like a game rather than a concept demo.
Enough coding and structural updates for now, it’s time for new content like new creatures, scenes, and areas.
(Note: Plans can change :>)
BREEDERS V.0.1: DOWNLOAD MEGA
As some of you may already know, a concerning change in Steams and Itchs policies has unfolded over the last few weeks. Steam recently added a vague and highly controversial clause to their Terms of Service and removed a number of adult games, while Itch, for the time being, has de-indexed their Adult Games section entirely.
Right now, things remain uncertain, and no major decisions can be made, after all, you can’t take Step 2 before Step 1 happens. At this stage, the best course of action is to wait and respond accordingly once these platforms clarify their positions.
The original plan was to release Breeders v0.1 on Itch alongside its dedicated page, but unfortunately, that will have to wait for now.
That said, the overall development schedule and plans remain unchanged. Future decisions will be made once the situation becomes clearer, and there are still plenty of options available depending on how this scenario evolves.
That’s it for now.
Greets! :>
