Cliona kicked the chest-sized metal cage at her heels.

Startled, Miriilandra opened her eyes suddenly and immediately tried to get up. There was a loud clang, as she hit her head on the hard metal frame.

"Hahahahahah!" Cliona's shrill laughter hit Mirii's ears and made her stomach sink. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't mean to wake you! But now that you're up, we can get down to business, I haven't got all day you mewling quim."

Mirii tried to shake off her confusion. She was in a different cage. Where was Bora? What had Cliona done to her? How long had she been asleep?

"I hope you don't mind," Cliona's voice cut through Mirii's train of thought, "I slipped into something a little more comfortable while you two were dozing off. This next part is a little tricky and I find it easier to work when I'm... at ease, so to speak."
