The reason is the covers have been a bit of an homage to the Finnish romantic nationalist artist Akseli Gallen-Kallela, and his beautiful, epic illustrations of the Kalevala (Finnish national epic, UL is heavily influenced by this too...

Some-friggin'-how, despite adding a bunch of stuff and even extending the new chapter 1 to what used to be 6 pages into chapter 2, the revised chapter 1 is still 20 pages long! Feels so short compared to the other ~30 page chapters (or 41 in chapter 3's case), but very convenient when you want to print it :D
