Sooo, since I did this one entirely at school I did not have any video footage. But since I had kept the different stages saved in my layers, I thought I could go through the process with some explanations.
In case anything is confusing or illegible, let me know and I can clarify!
Also I gotta mention, my coloring ...
haven't done much personal animation this semester, so I felt like doing smth quick before going to sleep.
39 drawings, most are animated on 2's with pauses here and there. Didnt really have any plan, going in, just started out a random mouvement and now 1 and a half hour later, here we are.
hehe you can tell which were...
Remember that 2 perspective background thingie I posted a while back? https://www.patreon.com/posts/anamorphose-wip-30545690 (Still in process, am currently in the middle of shading it traditionally) But I'm now more or less done wi...
2020-01-13 18:50:59 +0000 UTC View PostAfter a much needed vacation, I'll be trying to get back to semi-regularly posting stuff again! I'll at least have some school work to show since we got some semester deadlines coming up.
This one was really fun to do, because the theme was simply "punk"And we were free to mix in whatever extra aesthetics we wanted to....
Thank you all for your patience! Things are still going slow, but I'm already feeling much more relieved in general.
I made this a dA post as well, and wrote some more on that topic (the inbetween stage though is of course Patreon exclusive for now ;> )
The short of the dA post is basically: I am able again to ap...
I gotta take a break for a while, I wrote a rambly post on deviantart about the situation https://www.deviantart.com/remarin/journal/Heyho-update-820594466
But in short I'm basically getting myself into a burn-out from...
Ohthank god, I've finally been able to start something totally random and actually finish it in one quick session like what I've used to. I had the picture in my head of some gnarly grubby looking creature just spewing out smoke like a factory and then I just went autopilot to get it drawn out.
Didnt even need specific mus...
thank god I actually finished it before halloween,, I dont know what my current art style is doing, but I'm trying to take more control if that makes sense? Like you might notice the earlier stages being very contrast heavy with the values in the face, which just happens naturally with my paintings - heavy contrast - and I ha...
2019-10-27 20:34:04 +0000 UTC View PostStarted this dude during one of the more stressful weeks to just zone out for a bit. Snarly doggos will never fail to deliver on relax-time <3 I'll try to actually finish this one before halloween
2019-10-14 18:41:05 +0000 UTC View Postnot sure what the English term for an anamorphose perspective is, but we're doing a background piece that's going to be used for a different animation class. So it starts at the top with one perspective, and ends at the bottom in a different perspective. Basically to fake a camera tilting movement.
Interestingly, ...
2019-10-06 17:20:11 +0000 UTC View Post53 individual Frames, animated in TvPaint! Most of it is animated on twos, the last section of slowly raising the head is on fours because I didn't want to bother inbetweening so closely, for a mere test x:
School has finally started and I am back to doing random animated snippets during free time! I'll hopefully ...

I spent a while wracking my brains on deciding whether I should keep the glowing eye or leave it a hollow black like in the wip-preview, and I still ...
Just drawing for the sake of drawing, though not an actual study since I didn't pull up any reference material for it
2019-09-08 17:57:19 +0000 UTC View PostThis is the other dragon piece I started during the internship, but had trouble focusing on enough to finish. I still want to get back to it, no worries,, I'll just need to take a fresh running start,, same with the last dragon as well.
Btw, the plant in the top right is a random photo I had found on tumblr, and I used it ...
Sooo instead of investing the little hours I have at the end of the day into doing stuff like working on commissions or taking a shower so I dont have to wake up early tomorrow,, I felt compelled to make a new DnD character instead. Even though it might still be ages until a new session even gets mentioned, but I guess why no...
2019-08-27 21:32:24 +0000 UTC View Posthere's one of those personal pieces I ended up struggling to finish,, during that weird phase I talked about on the last post. I still haven't gotten around to it, but I'd really like it to just be done. (I might also just get rid of those monument thingies? It was fine when the initial idea was for it to be this rocky terrai...
2019-08-25 19:34:49 +0000 UTC View PostI've been doing an internship during this last month, so I apologize for being so inactive :'I I had ran into some hurdles in terms of my drawing habits,, long story short; I forgot that I need music to get into the magical focused time-flies-by zone and spent a whole week or two becoming more and more frustrated about how I ...
2019-08-22 21:07:30 +0000 UTC View Poststarted another one! I tend to avoid using pure black in my images, since I used to depend very heavily on it to make my colors look even somewhat passable - way back when I first was learning digital art. So I've been afraid of using it as a crutch. But even after I started to get more comfortable with colors, I still have b...
2019-08-03 22:54:21 +0000 UTC View PostFrom the last chara design class! The feet positions were tricky and I'm not sure if they are correct or not. But all in all, the main key point was to have drawn the character in question enough times to really get familiar with the shapes and proportions before getting to the turnaround.
I went through multiple different...
Gonna probably redo the detailing around the eyes, I was too much in auto-pilot at the time and the rendering style ended up looking a bit...flat?
But also, oh god what's this, like the fifth work in progress I started instead of finishing ANY of the other ones? my work flow is completely derailed :T
A wip shot and some initial sketches to figure out the pose and angle. I sadly did it entirely at school so I don't have any recordings of it :x
I'm in my first week of vacation but I haven't yet gotten a rhythm back in terms of getting back into productivity. I'm not pushing myself, mind you, I'm aware I probably need th...
some more loose and fun painting, which means plenty of rendering being done before actually fixing all the more technical wonkyness (like, the neck is a bit misaligned to where it actually should connect to the torso/spine - the hat isn't fitted to the head's size yet, etc)
Last week of school! And we got little to do in most classes right now, so I spent the day doodling about, drawing random stuff.
2019-07-01 19:21:13 +0000 UTC View Postflying animation is definitely something I want to get into - and I say that, though I have not yet actually sat down to do reference search or motion studies other than quick glances.
Compared to my earlier tries ( which I haven't even posted anywhere because they were so rough) I feel like I have gotten a better sense fo...
something I dabbled with during classes now that most of our deadlines are past. I still feel like my background skills are a bit too limited to natural environments, but I don't mind working towards getting more comfortable doing one thing before trying to expand to more diverse subjects
2019-06-27 18:09:16 +0000 UTC View PostIt's been a while since I rendered out a snarly doggo, so despite having multiple other personal pieces in progress, I felt the need to start something new.
2019-06-23 09:14:19 +0000 UTC View PostHmm I feel like I'm overcompensating for my usual dark tones when it comes to character design assignments. My friends have also commented on how suprisingly cute they often are. But I think I just haven't yet found the style I'd be comfortable with if I were to create a personal character for animation purposes, as my painti...
2019-06-22 15:21:55 +0000 UTC View PostOne year of figure drawing classes sure makes you more comfortable with human proportions and such, dang.
Since we are an animation class, nearly all our sessions include some 1 or 2 min drawing poses, and it sure feels like things are running smoother than the beginning of the year.
