This version of the theme (Revenant Wings) fits perfectly with the older soundfonts. The XII ones are absolute nightmares to work with, & the shorter loop also fits the earlier SNES style well.

Yes indeed, this is VIII's font. The only things not from VIII are the reverse cymbals, wind effect in the intro, & vocal sample. It's just an insanely high quality MIDI.

Your pleas did not fall on deaf ears ;) The main holdup was that the GBA version of the track (which I used as a MIDI source & template) was EXTREMELY simple & missing a large part of the later, full arrangement. I had to add all those parts back in by ear.
