I'm really hoping to get in his head space on these past few pages by bringing the ceiling and similarly high elements closer while dwarfing other characters.

Yes you saw that right. Behold one of the many ad lib passes. Sometimes in the thumbnail phase I'll have blerbs that roughly equate to what the script says to help with the composition (sometimes something else completely)
We end up with some fascinating lines this way.
But it gets lost in revisions and refining.&...
