Auto pan or delay on your hi hats?

Auto pan will give you the exact same sound panned left to right (generally sounds nice on 16th). Delay will give you a different texture from the first hat that can ping pong or mid side (especially nice on 1/8th). However, watch out adding in more hats with the latter as it can quickly become cluttered.

Use a correlation meter. If you are in the +1 area all of that will be mono compatible. Even if you have stereo information. All the elements that are below 0 will be out of phase and that is not the worst thing in the world.
