It all starts with a sketch, I like to keep these loose so I can toss out or erase from it without feeling married to the result. The messier your sketch in the early phase, the better.

It started with shirtless Kass flashing gang signs, then moved on to hybrid doodles, playing around with some ideas where each generation mixes a little more of a particular trait in. Backgrounds are rendered and composited, and I've refined the sketch to match. Here's where I got, and I suspect any further refinement will happen in the inking phase, then it's off to color and shade! Sorry if the dialog is a little confusing, I don't have balloons in when I sketch.

Done! Gosh, this is such an involved page, but I learned a lot going forward. The extra work on the set design really shines in my opinion. There's a few cameos here, hopefully you can spot Bucky and Pronk, but I also threw in Gideon and that girl Sharla he used to pick on when they were kids.
