While Joey and Brian are out hunting some outlaws ambush them. Protecting Joey, Brian gets shot at and Joey will do her best to treat the wound, but she is no doctor and fears for Brian's life.

At this point in the story, Joey has been concealing her feelings for Brian, meaning they are not still together.
