PlayStation Park Paid: Ape Escape 2001 (PS2)

This is certainly a weird game to be the second Ape Escape title. It's more of a puzzle game than a sequel. It has way more monkeys on screen than 2, but graphically it feels like it's using a lot of slightly better PSOne assets.

I like that they sort of attempted to make the game look cel-shaded - a big feat on the PlayStation!

Interestingly this was called "Lifeforce Tenka" in Europe. Psygnosis was really pumping out some games on the platform, and though Sony now fully owns them I feel a lot of their legacy is lost.

This series has such a bizarre history to it. Iron Soldier 1 & 2 both came out exclusively for the Atari Jaguar of all things. Then this third iteration came out on the PlayStation.. and the Nuon! The weird DVD player that could play games!
