I've been reading the Iliad lately! It is very interesting and I wish I had read it sooner.

I like Achilles, Patroclus, Nestor, and Diomedes as characters. They are all fascinating.

I just read up to the funeral of Patroclus. I hope to finish reading it soon so I can paint another drawing of the Iliad.

The first one is based on the statue in Alexandria. It is a statue of the deified Alexander and the hero Hephaestion.

The second one is inspired by the time when  just became a Page; I tried to keep the color of the Macedonian chlamys(cloak) the same in both drawings.

Hephaestion died in the fall of 324 BC and I painted accordingly. Alexander the Great was so saddened that he ordered his dead dearest friend to be revered as a hero.

I have been thinking about a new Macedonian OC for the past few days! Their names are Laodice and Berenice, they are the same age and are lovers. 

It might be a good idea to draw these girls when I paint their ancient Greek costumes.
