Celebrity Juice

Adventures and Naps post Celebrity Juice from patreon

Oh my! I remember the first time I saw Celebrity Juice when I first moved to England I was SHOCKED. They allow this on TV???? I think I was surprised because British TV (the limited stuff I had seen) seemed so tame and prudish, whereas you know Celebrity Juice is the opposite.

Celebrity Juice is definitely not my cup of...

Another film I've watched recently during my Old Film Night is La Notte. Another film from 1961 but from a different part of the world with very different themes. No matter where you are in your life, I think you can recognise the internal conflicts the characters face.

While there's lots of scenes where not much is hap...

Have I Got News For You

Adventures and Naps post Have I Got News For You from patreon

Canada doesn't really have comedy-news-panel shows like you have here in the UK. I think North America's version would be the news-comdey-late-night-talk-shows instead like Jimmy Kimmel, Real Time with Bill Maher, the Late Show with Steven Colbert, etc, etc.

Have I Got News For You is one of my favourites, always ...

Wow!

Adventures and Naps post Wow! from patreon

I've started a new tradition of watching a classic film each Tuesday - specifically anything released before 1970. Basically a film history class!

This Tuesday I watched Yojimbo - wow! I can see why it's viewed as such a influential movie. I was so surprised to think it was released in 1961 based on the technical aspect...

I do a lot of content writing for my job, which means lots of sitting at my computer typing. Annoyingly, I can't listen to music with proper lyrics when I write because it gets too distracting. Thankfully, the Skyrim soundtrack is perfect. I've probably listened to this hundreds of times already!

Sometimes video game so...

A lot of people comment on my videos asking what my thoughts are on certain British humour, TV shows, comedy panel shows, etc, so I figured I'd share that with you guys!

Taskmaster - what a silly show, but pretty enjoyable. Last time I was in Canada we didn't have anything remotely similar. I haven't se...

I hated it!

Adventures and Naps post I hated it! from patreon

This movie angered me so much... maybe I was just having a bad day, but it felt like the laziest horror film ever. Really basic plot, boring scenes and lame jump-scares. I actually really liked the first Conjuring and this was the absolute opposite.

No thank you!!!

Excuse me

Adventures and Naps post Excuse me from patreon

Architecture like this always blows my mind. Growing up in Canada (and spending a lot of time in Florida) we just don't have anything even remotely similar to this. Instead, we have massive square Walmarts with giant ugly parking lots. I can't imagine what it would be like growing up around buildings like this!

That architecture!

Adventures and Naps post That architecture! from patreon

Florence wasn't on my "must-see" places before, but after seeing the city I can't wait to go back! It has all the charm of Rome, architecture, gelato.. but a lot less commotion. Or maybe that's just my perspective.

Either way, it was beautiful.

As much as I love Canada, we don't have anything like this.

Although I didn't really love Venice, it's certainly a whole new world in terms of daily life. I'm sure it becomes routine eventually (like everything) but I can't imagine giving up my car for a little boat.

Midsommar is absolutely not for everyone - in fact, I told my parents they probably shouldn't see it. It's wildly upsetting, beautiful and the more I think about it, the more I enjoy it (although "enjoy" is absolutely not the right word. Appreciate, maybe?)

Pros:

I watched the "western-horror" film The Wind recently, and I didn't really get it. I certainly wouldn't call this classic horror, but it was beautiful and a really interesting concept. It just didn't do enough for me. It was a like a slow burn but the twist is seen from miles away.

Looks like critics loved it (I can see...

Probably the last time I had poutine was in this pic, nearly 10 years ago! I like my fries to crunchy, crispy and salty, not soggy with gravy and cheese curds! But when you're at a local fair, it's only FAIR to get some.

I went to see the creator live in London back in 2017. He spoke about the story, those he interviewed, how it's changed his life, etc, etc. A great show (and great drinks!)
