You may recognise these boots - I've worn them in a few recent comics. For Christmas I wanted to make them a bit more festive, so I destroyed a couple of cheap Santa hats to make some elasticated slip-on furry cuffs.
Now I've got used to them and I think the boots actually look a little naked without them :)

So, in the UK we call them Christmas jumpers - in the US, I believe they are known as ugly sweaters. Either way, my wardrobe is bursting with them and yet every year I have to buy a new one. The perfect set up for a corny old comic :)
