A walk on the pier!

Rachael Padilla post A walk on the pier! from patreon

I went out on to this pier to get a look at the shipwreck in the daylight.  I spoke to a very friendly guy from the Coast Guard that said that there are thousands of cars still onboard the ship.  It may take a year for them to remove it.

The lighthouse is also very impressive from this angle.  It w...

Stills from my Doctor Who Holiday Special!

Rachael Padilla post Stills from my Doctor Who Holiday Special! from patreon

Here are some stills from my Winter episode of "Comics in the Sun".  I had a good time reading this beautiful Doctor Who Classic comic book.  As you can see the color pallet was very interesting and I found the art even more engrossing than the story.  Plus, it's always fun to dress up as your favorite Doctor!&...

I read "Socks" by John S. Hall.  It was a really fun poem to read and I hope that it makes you curious about his other work.

If you're not a patron already I'd love for you to check out all of the great stuff that I do behind the paywall!

Practicing with watercolor today! Just a couple of days ago, I'd sketched a magnolia blossom. I thought I'd try a similar composition in color! Deep greens, warm yellows, and purple!

Little watercolor painting

Rachael Padilla post Little watercolor painting from patreon

I began painting a card today in watercolor! I had previously painted a composition similar to this one. I think that crows are clever and beautiful birds! I always enjoy painting them! Did you know that they can recognize human faces? Just one of the reasons I admire them!

Reflecting on December: Then & Now

Rachael Padilla post Reflecting on December: Then & Now from patreon

I awoke this morning to one of the prettiest December mornings in my recollection. It was so warm! Overnight, a front from the South had settled in, I imagined a host of tropical images in the warmth of it. I was so inspired and awed by the beauty and stillness that I began to wish, in earnest, that I was a poet.

Out for a walk!

Rachael Padilla post Out for a walk! from patreon

It's been cold! This morning was still a bit brisk, but not nearly as cold, so we went out for a walk. Inigo Montoya was happy to be out, and managed to find something stinky to roll in. Even so, I had a nice time and was able to clear my head and clarify some thoughts!

I'm still having fun with filters, and wanted to share a poem.  I think this looks a bit like an 8mm film.  I've added scratches and flicker, surface dust and film jitter.  I hope that it adds to the enjoyment for you!

Perhaps it is the influence of the colors in nature, whatever the reason, I found myself mixing gold, teal, and blue. Organic shapes emerged as I took my brush to paper. Just allowing my mind and hand to flow freely today!

Just a quick little sketch of a dandelion shedding its seeds. It's not an uncommon image, but every time I see it, I can't help but think of those moments in life where my mind has been opened in a new way. Like a strong breeze through the mind, scattering my thoughts in all directions to plant new seeds!

Sometimes I'm out walking, and I forget that some of my patrons would very much like to come across me on my stroll.  While this video doesn't have a huge amount of artistic merit, it did catch me thinking about what could be done to create things that you may like to see. Creating texture and patterns with my "Ahab" fountain pen filled with Noodler's black ink! As I continue to work with ink, it's becoming easier to create variation within a drawing.
